That is the most disheartening news all day. Not even one pro game played and the kid gets that much money. Amazing how heart surgeons, police officers, firefighters and other people who save lives are out there and this guy gets that much money. I am telling you right now that I will not buy his sneakers or anything to do with him. Maybe instead of buying a Hummer, Lebron should give some money to help aid the homeless. Or maybe Lebron should hold off on that watch and form a scholarship for kids who want to attend college. This is why pro sports is so fake. At least when watching any college sport you know that 95 % of the athletes are diving for loose balls because they love basketball, not because Nike is sitting in the front row. I know this may look like player hating but that is just insane. Sad how the world works.

I'm happy for him that he gets the big contract, i've seen him play I know he will be badass in the pros and so does nike, thats why they offer him the millions, because he will make them millions. Every arena he plays at will be sold out, the teams, the owners will make millions all off him.

So why doesn't he deserve to get paid? He is a rare 1 in 10 million athlete that doesn't come around very often, like Michael Jorday & Tiger Woods.

Probably less than 5 people in the world have the talent/ability to play basketball and entertain us like Lebron.

Its all supply & demand. If teachers made 100million we would all go to school and become teachers, its not difficult.

I think the part of the point 1976 was making had to do with the fact that this kid is getting loads of money to play basketball and endorse products but it is VERY unlikely he will do anything with his new financial freedom to help those less fortunate. Teachers, doctors, police, firefighters, etc DEDICATE their lives to others (often strangers) without an ounce of the money or fame Lebron has received so far in his short career.

I applaude when a black man succedes. Even if he is a dumbass, how many years ago was it when we were telling them they were inferior? Not too long ago. How many white guys get 100 million dollar contracts? Would you feel better if he wasnt black? How about Bill Gates. HE may give a little money, but that guy makes more money than God, and could single-handely raise all of the US teachers salaries. But is he? No. Quit being jealous, shut up, and live your life.

I think that since LeBron is so talented at such a young age, and there is so much media directed totally at HIM, then yes, he will be a little bit cocky. I think that his attitude will change when he gets used to not being in the spotlight all the time and being with the big boys.
As for the $100 million dollars- I do think that Nike went a little overboard. But like Ladies Man said, it is supply and demand, and Nike did what they had to do to get the hottest guy out there right now.
This isn't a new thing, guys. It is a repetitive cycle that will keep on going until something new comes along.

This is TOTALLY not a racial issue. I don't care what color the kid is, I am glad he has a great contract, I am just not going to hold my breath waiting for him to use his success in a positive manner.

I think Bill Gates gives more to charities than you are giving him credit for, and on top of that, he has totally revolutionized the direction of technology.
