  • Fuckin Mice ... in my engine?!

Misfires and car put-puting around with no acceleration. Wiring harness to #1 injector damaged by MICE!!

Has anything happened like that to you before and, more importantly, any advice how to prevent it?

Yeah mice/ rats/ squirrels got my motorcycle. chewed the wires on my quick shifter.

I zip tied a baggie to the wire harness and filled it with cotton balls. I soaked them with peppermint oil, ammonia and I put natural bug spray in there that contains geraniol. I leave the bag partially open and have not lifted my bike cover and had a visitor scurry out since.

I used to keep my boat at my father in laws house in the country. Rats got the wire in it. I put moth balls and that all but stopped it.

Happened before!! We farmed rice and combines.... the mice would nest in them. Chewed wiring harnesses!!!
Always best to take batteries off or disconnect switch cause they like the low DC voltage, they try to chew and get stimulation at teeth but can target non-voltage wire too...

We used peppermint oil the 100% pure kind that sells at health food places or online etc. The other versions don't work. Mice are allergic to peppermint and bad!!!

Also moth balls. We would get container and poke holes or drill them thru lid...

Wash all existing nest out car compartments and all grain. Remove any grain from area and try to park car in area that is free from mice. Away from fields and storage units that are infested.

Use volt meter to test wiring on car to trouble shoot wiring....

Maybe poison area u at as well. Be carefull of pets!!!

I am a diesel mechanic and deal with fixing faulty wiring often. It's mostly farm equipment and things stored in certain areas. Diesel works well to spray on engine and also deters mice!!!

Also just to quick fix coating i often use electric black tap liquid coat. Bandaide fixes exposed sections. But disconnect and shrink sleeve works best with little torch to heat and shrink. But changing wire sometimes necessary!!!

Of course I asked my mechanic to prevent it. He's a chill dude and gave it to me straight. Said he has heard lots of old moves tales and some have worked for people and not others.

Rodents are chewing at shit under the hood. Do I try these suggestions by putting stuff in my whip or directly under the hood? I would like to avoid a fire under the hood. that would be very bad lol.

I use sticky traps and motels in the house for those Mickey Mouse fvckers haha. I find their access points by cat sitting believe it or not.

I have never had a rodent issue in a vehicle. It seems weird to me cz I drive it all the time.

those little mother fuckers get into everything especially this time of year. i still say if you dont have pets around your car poison the fuck out of the area. they wont pass it up for nothing. i personally wouldnt put anything under the hood because of fire like you already said. maybe underneath or on top of one or more of your tires over night. i would think that would help out. check your air filter area real good, that's one of the places the little bastards love to set up nests

I was talking to an old redneck at work. He said he takes peppermint extract and puts the whole thing in a pump up sprayer with water and sprays the engine bay of his cars, 4 wheelers and lawn tractor with it. It will not hurt anything as it is basically scented water and he does it 1 time every 2 months. He said he has never had a prob since.
