Anyone done this? I just got my kit and am going to spit in this thing and send it in and find out what kind of ancestry I have. I know some peeps are paranoid about sending in their DNA, oh well, what the hell

I. Couldn't care if they keep the record.
I don't care if my internet or phone is monitored. I feel sorry for anyone that goes through my computer. Unless you have a fetish for dwarf chicks... Ya gone be bored.
Do note that the DNA back ground is subject to change. As they are discovering more about history and migration.... Etc

Re: Ancestry DNA tests
I could see this being a problem if all your illegitimate kids some day show up at your door calling you DAD. I could end up having several kids I never knew about. Oh well, at least I will know if Im part native american. Maybe I can get free college or something

Re: Ancestry DNA tests
I am adopted, I would love to know my genealogy. Dzone I bet you have at least as much native American as Elizabeth warren. Of course most of us do. HAHA sorry.
But to find half brothers and sisters which are for sure out there. That wouold be cool. I tried through the state adoption agency but from the non-identifying info packet i got from them it seems I was a fun baby fathered by a married man and they did not want my existence known. Hell my bio father may not know I exist. If they are still alive. The packet said they were both in their mid 30s when my bio mom got preggo. That was 50 years ago.
I am going to do it. I do not care that the gov is creating an illegal DNA data base using these services.

Re: Ancestry DNA tests
HAHAHA! after posting this I started searching for the dna test kits. I told my wife they were having a sale and I was going to get the buy 1 get 1 free. She got up from her work station in her office and went in the bed room. opened her sock drawer and grabbed a box and threw it at me.
She said "I can't buy anything for you for xmas without you fucking it up"
I laughed. but she was really mad. I made a fresh pot of coffee for her and rubbed her shoulders while she worked. all forgiven.

Re: Ancestry DNA tests
Facebook & google has more info on all of us than anywhere. They know everything about us. Every website we have ever vistied and everything we have ever said online. I am more worried about facebook and google knowing all about my history than any dna testing lab. If google wants to make all of our internet history public, we're screwed. It could easily happen

Re: Ancestry DNA tests
Companies will pay big money for all your personal data. Facebook got in trouble for doing that. That cambrige analytica thing. You could see some day where Ancestry DNA sells all of the information theyve gathered to some data collecting company for $$$$ millions... in who knows what country. Its risky, no doubt. Maybe it could be used against you. Your dna is pretty personal stuff
