I think gateway drugs are a myth. A person chooses to get a stronger, different high or they like pot or alc and stick with that. All of these substances are not safe. Tylenol isnt safe. Take too much, you die.
I love to blaze all around since years before i started lifting. Now Cannabis is legal and I can talk about it openly. Has pot found in it's place in your every day along with a bb'ing lifestyle??

Yes, there are a lot of gateways. Alcohol is often the first drug that leads someone to becoming a hard core drug addict.
There are millions of people who use weed & dont graduate to harder drugs, for them its a much safer alternative to deadly pharmaceutical, rec drugs or alcohol
i would rather see people smoking pot than getting on pain meds. hell at least a pot head wont break into your house or try to rob you for a fix

safety shouldnt matter. put the risks out there for public education on what it can and will do you for any and all substances. then if you are an adult and choose to consume it then that's your business. if you fuck yourself up by using any of the said substances then you have to cover any and all costs yourself. if you are grown ass adult, no one should be telling you what you can and cant put into your body. educate and let all the stupid people kill their bodies and themselves
So alcohol, tobacco and even coffee*** (the world's most prolific druq) could be construed as gateway. I think just because many folk start with pot many times does not make mean it is the gateway to harder druqs.
this is causation without correlation. Pot is prolific, probably the most prolific around (not including the 3 mentioned before***) Just because someone gets their hands on it first does not mean that it was the reason they tried harder compounds. If there was no such thing as pot, most folk would probably skip that step and go right to the big stuff.

Not to mention the crime that alcohol is a huge part of. How many domestic abuse cases and child abuse cases are directly linked to alcohol consumption? How many murders and needless deaths are caused by liquor? I guarantee you its a hell of a lot more than ever got violent after smoking weed. Cops will tell you they would way rather have to go to a house full of pot smokers than a house full of boozers. Plus the physical deterioration & disease caused by booze is way beyond anything you would see from just weed smoking..
Lets face it, if more people traded liquor for weed, the world would be a better place. Thats not a comment to promote weed smoking, its just a fact

I don't disagree with you on this. Not to .e tion that alcohol is physically addictive as well as psychologically. And on and on.
OTOH, there are plenty of people who drink "socially". I've witnessed this 'phenomenon'. People who go see a band play at a bar, for instance, and nurse a single drink for HOURS, often leaving half of it on the table when they leave for the night. Not really sure why they're drinking or what they're getting out of it. Certainly not a buzz! Or maybe so, I don't know, I never drank like that...

I knew my comment was going to create controversy.....
The thing is, I have been to 2 funerals in a week for young people who OD'ed on H. People close to me in one way or another. They both started out smoking weed - and drinking. Trust me, I am well aware that not everyone who dabbles with pot goes all the way down. But plenty do.
It's an incremental thing. If there was no pot, jumping right to the big stuff probably wouldn't happen. If weed is ok, then what's the big deal about a little snort? Especially once the weed doesn't really do the job like it used to? Eventually an addict get to a place where mainlining makes sense...
All that said, the widespread dependence on various pain pills - doctor prescribed - probably changes all of that. That shit is nothing more than the pill form of H, so maybe I'm wrong: maybe people do jump right in nowadays.
My take on it is based on my personal experience and that of many others I know who are like me. I've been clean/sober for over 30 years but it ruined - and very nearly ended - my life before I stopped.
No controversy brother, just a difference of opinion. Your anecdotal experience is different than mine. I understand addiction very well as it affected someone very close to me for 7 years and almost caused a catastrophic end to the relationship.
There are many reasons to smoke pot other than the high. I have a vet buddy who smokes because it is far more effective at reducing his PTSD. I have a buddy I train with who has anger issues and has had trouble with the law for beating folk up. He smokes and has not had a significant problem since. It is effective for reducing nausea in chemo patients, more so than many doctor druqs with very few if any sides. Chronic pain, stress relief. All this is from a non-user. But I can see that it is far less destructive than alcohol or tobacco IMO and experience.

In this day and age there is no reason to smoke weed if you are to partake. Vaping, edibles, tinctures, etc. are all options. With that being said, I rarely use cannabis, but if and when I do, I vape it. No smoke,no cough, no liver toxicity or hangover.
