  • No Hearing In My Ear ???

So since Monday , after leaving the gym with a shoulder session done, I noticed as if my right ear was full of water. Well like an asshole I thought it was probably full of wax because as a kid I had trouble with wax discharge and had a tube inserted to help with my problem. In the past I've had my ears cleaned out and it's worked to restore my hearing in that ear. But as of Monday , after trying to clear out the ear myself with Qtips, I noticed I couldn't hear Anything from that ear. I first thought I plugged it up with wax more , but it seemed weird that I couldn't even hear me touching the ear . My second thought was I must've damaged the ear drum.
On Tuesday I went to the ENT and he saids to me , yes let me clear out the ear , after telling him my story.
He cleans it out , but still no sound. So he takes a hearing test and sure enough the hearing is almost none in the right ear but great in the left. The ear drum seems to be intact with little to no damageat all.
He tells me there's a deeper issue that may be with the nerve. Puts me on a weeks medication of Prednisone and saids come back Monday for another hearing test to determine if this steroid is working or not. So far there's no changes, I can sort of make some sounds but all I hear is ringing but no other sounds . No words , nothing.
Has anyone heard or gone through this ? If so what was the information, conclusion , treatment etc...
I don't want to be deaf in one ear forever .
Appreciate any and all information and advice.
    Thank You Guys !!!

first be careful with training with the steroid in. it will jack up tendons ligs and your muscles. now me personally i am almost 100% deaf in my left ear from blasts and gun fire. i have some nasty tenitus as well. so for me i hear ringing 24/7 and for women and kids they have to be on my right side to hear them haha. what they did for me to help mine out in the beginning was to have me wear full ear prottection for 24 hours straight. then they would recheck my hearing. it did improve a small amount but not much. good luck with that man and you may want to see if you can get your brain checked out. you could be having issues in your head that arent giving any other symptoms.

If you are a vet the VA will give you 10% automatically all you do is apply and test.

As far as the gym , do I go easy with the weights ? What do I do to not make things worse ?

Limbaugh had sudden hearing loss and got a cochlear implant. That fixed it. It was an auto immune inner ear thing. Hope it heals up soon 4 you T

I have probs with my ears draining. I used to get fluid behind the ear drum but had my adnoids removed and have not had the prob since.

Do not let it linger, it can become permanent. If it is an infection a course of antibiotics may help.

And when I think about it , I've had headaches on the right side of my head for years but really never thought anything of it .
                Maybe that's another reason ?
Def gonna have to get that scan !!!

Sounds like they put you on the ultimate anti-aas, prednisone. I hate to love it. I had my tonsils and adnoids removed and my hearing came back. I also get the jet wash at the doc's once a year which has made a big difference. I think your tonsils are possibly inflamed. If you have your tonsils and adnoids you dont need them. The surgery is nothing. You are in and out.

for the training. yes go super easy and dont get anywhere near failure on anything at all. stuff is nasty in our system for sure. if you are getting the hearing test redone on monday, and they did a good cleaning on it like you said. try the ear plug thing all day sunday. see if that makes a difference.

And I almost feel like not wanting to go back to the gym until things are different , idk .

haha, no man cotton wont work. you need a good set of ear protection. something that is going to block out all sound. i cant remember what brand they gave me because it was years ago. you can get them from walmart or pretty much any store like that or a sporting good store.

Tighten your abs on your lift, turn up the bass, your ear will let you know. A popped ear feels soooo good.
