Who wears a football mouthpiece to train/sleep etc

After fracturing 2 teeth this year due to "clenching" , I have to start sleeping in one and maybe even to train in.. I know some people train in them and I recall one research study that showed it can actually increase your strength.

Yes, Ive been sleeping with it. Im getting used to it. I figure I wore one non stop in the old boxing and football days so Its not too bad

Of course the dentist tells me the ones he makes are better than the cheap ones like mine which I put in boiling water and then stuck in my mouth to fit it to my teeth. I dont see how paying a few hundred for a dentist made mouthpiece is any better than the $15 one I got on amazon. After a few nights sleeping with it, I dont much notice it.

my dentist is a retired comp bb'er. cant even pinch an ounce of fat on this dude. he had all his teeth capped and he trains with a mouth piece. He told me i need to but like you D i sure as hell aint paying $500 for a tiny piece of molded plastic or whatever it is. I tried training with a store bought one and it interfered with my breathing so that was not happening for me. I like to avoid passing out when training. To sleep with one in addition to a cpap machine for sleep apnea ... ya i have enough trouble sleeping as it is. Hell it's called the grind for a reason.

Ya, I think the dentist is full of crap cuz Ive had the dentist made ones and they aint all that. Seems like some dentists just want your money

I occasionally run into people wearing them in the gym. I've never done it, but I always wondered if it helped. I might pick one up and try it. Especially on my heavy days with squats, barbell rows, etc...

After a few days wearing it, I hardly notice it. Sleep just fine with it. Im like Stephan Curry with that mouthpiece. Flipping it around and chewing on it. Played football for 12 years straight and boxed for the college team so I pretty much was wearing a mouthpiece my whole life . Its no big deal plus I like working out with it. I can grit down like a damn pitbull now. haha

No, but I have thought about it. I have my mouthpiece for boxing. I guess it would work well. I do not grit my teeth when lifting. I used to but forced myself to relax my jaw.

We use to be able to buy them at any sporting goods store back in the day. For football or lacrosse. Add to Boiling water for a few minutes and then they form exactly to your teeth.
Only a few bucks back then.
