Juvenile delinquent facility near my house

I live out in the country away from the city but there has been a 60 acre youth detention facility about a half mile up the road from where I live. The kids there were some hard core teenage criminals that were one step away from prison. They were always escaping and you would see these kids running down the road all the time. Sometimes hiding in peoples garages, barns etc. Well, last year this facility got shut down after an investigation revealed some pretty sick and sadistic treatment of kids was going on there.
I was damn glad when they shut it down. No more escapees. Then last month they announced that the facility will be turned into a drug treatment center with some violent drug offenders being housed there. Needless to say, people who live around here were pissed. I was going to have to increase my surveillance cameras around my house. Maybe get some more attack dogs. Thank goodness they just announced the deal fell thru and the facility will remain abandoned.
People move away from the city to get away from that crap. Im keeping an eye on that place and will he ready to B***h if they try to house criminals there

we had a correctional boot camp facility across the hill from my house growing up. my wife's step dad and my brother both worked in that facility. straight up boot camp for teen males from 13-19 to rehab them instead of putting them into the system. i thought that place was great program. they made big rocks into little rocks, picked up garbage did drill the whole 9 yards. idk if that's the same setup you had near you dzone but the sate i am originally from ran all of those programs with a very very tight lease on the staff.

I used to work at one of these youth substance abuse facilities which ran on a program called a Therapeutic Community (TC). Pretty strict, but lots of groups talking about feelings and residents 'encountering' each other.

Family day was a trip...

When a facility has a history like that the entire property should be leveled. Then turned over to the people of the town and made into a park with basketball courts, baseball field, playground, etc. Use all that space for something pleasant for kids and families.

damn that would crush property values...........I am sure there is some security there but I would not want proto criminals in my neck of the woods. Although we have our fair share of un-prosecuted criminals here.

Now this sounds way more effective! I think most of us wouldn't want a place like this in walking distance from our homes.

i think what makes that program effective is that if they dont follow the rules and the program they automatically get x amount of years in the pen. so most comply and dont cause any problems. they also start them on a trade program while at the facility as well. i dont ever remember anyone breaking out of there but the other prisons in the area it happened more than once haha. in the rural mountains finding one of those fools is a huge pain. then again their really wasnt anywhere for them to go

This facility doesnt even have a fence around it. The only security they had was they took the kids shoes away from them. BFD. So you see these kids running down the road in their socks. I always felt like they needed a 10 foot high fence around it with razor wire on top. But I guess that might hurt someones feelings

lol, the whole no shoe barefoot thing...keeps them kids grounded! HA!

The facility got turned in for putting kids in solitary confinement, tying kids up and beating them and Punishing kids by starving them, etc. The kids were described as having severe behavioral problems. Many were completely psychotic, schizophrenic, etc.
Parents finally turned them in and they got investigated and shut down and now all the windows have plywood on them. Hope it stays that way
