REPORT: Floyd Mayweather & Conor McGregor in Talks For $500 Million Rematch

UFC lightweight champion(?) Conor McGregor made the trip over to the boxing world in August of last year. Floyd Mayweather had easy work in putting away the Irishman in the tenth round, but how much easier will it be for McGregor to destroy ‘Money’ in the UFC Octagon?
They certainly opened a can of worms last year when they boxed for 4.6 million PPV buys in North America. Still, it seems Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor aren’t done quite yet.
Maybe that was the plan all along, one in boxing and one in MMA? Whichever way you look at it, ‘The Notorious’ and ‘Money’ have brought eyes to both sports when they needed it most.
During a number of teasing social media posts, both men have challenged each other to a bout in the UFC. Although Mayweather handled McGregor with ease in boxing, the likelihood is he’d have zero chance in MMA.

Boxing insider and Telegraph correspondent Gareth A Davies shared his insight with talkSport today. With the lightweight title stripped, then not stripped, perhaps another go at the circus really is what McGregor wants. All the money and pretty much no responsibilities or aftercare.
His most recent comments indicate the Irishman is keen to get Mayweather in the octagon:

Speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT, Davies exclusively revealed: “My soundings are that there are a lot of talks going on in the background, there are a lot of talks around people with Mayweather.
“There are a lot of talks about him potentially having an MMA fight with Conor McGregor.
“Conor McGregor had no chance in a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.
“People will tune in to see Mayweather get stopped by Conor McGregor and it won’t affect his boxing record. I think it’s going to happen and I think it will be a three, four, five hundred million dollar fight again.”

“I’d do as I’d please against him inside the Octagon,” McGregor said, speaking with Adam Glyn (H/T TheMacLife.com). “If he does do it — I know he’s flirting with it — I’d have respect for him.”
“I think it would get his earned respect then if he was to step in. He’s engaging, we’re engaging, so we’ll see. I’m currently in negotiations to face my next opponent and we have many options.
“There’s the current interim lightweight champion, there’s an undefeated Dagistani, there may be a big Russian event. There’s obviously the Diaz trilogy, of course the Mayweather fight is there. We’re just at the table at the moment. Times is good, life is good.”
