For me, I was 13...a youth pastor took time out to create a program and time to keep me and a few other boys out of trouble. The iron became my friend and I never looked back!
My brother bought me a membership when I was 19 and I went a little with him. I really owe it to Fuzo though. He is the one who really got me in the gym when we met
i had a high school baseball coach and history teacher bring me under his wing for bodybuilding at around 13 or 14 as well. i actually started training seriously for football in 8th grade. no real structure in that approach to begin with other than heavy squats deads bench and military press. coach had a system but it was garbage so after the first year i evolved over to the bodybuilder style with some of the other football training mixed in. man i got some stories about some of the crazy stuff those old school guys did back then. stupid to stay the least but funny looking back
My cousins boyfriend at the time (now husband) got me interested in it when I was in high school. I played basketball but honestly didn't know how much later in life that lifting would help. I went on to play college basketball and I was skinny but I could almost always rely on my quickness and jumping ability to get open for shots, or get to the basket. It wasn't until I got invited to try out for the USBL til I was like whoa [emoji44] I need some muscles [emoji123] lmao! Been lifting ever since!
My brother when I was 12 and he was 10 years older. He played college football and all I wanted was to be good at football so he took me downstairs to the family weight room and showed me what to do. When youre 12 being consistent is hard, so I can still remember him bugging me "Did you work out today? How are you ever going to get any better if you dont work out?" lol He is still working out all these years later
