At my gym they have a lot of hammer strength machines. Now they have an extra padded back section you can add to get an extra stretch at the bottom of the movement. Is this a good idea. I tried it and like the feel. I feel it more in the middle of my chest but I still feel it elsewhere, but the middle feels great.

I like them and incorporate a couple hammer strength machines in my workouts sometimes. (Usually with chest and shoulders) I don't think I've ever used the additional padding you mentioned though. I get a pretty good stretch using them as is, but I can definitely see where it could be a benefit.
