This is from an article by chris mallac, the sports injury doctor. Very interesting about disc pressure and why why heavy deads and squats might not be good to do early in the morning. . Ive gone heavy early in the morning and never had a problem, but something to think about anyway.
"Disc pressure is highest in the morning, therefore you are more likely to get hurt in the morning. This is due to the lack of compression caused by gravity when we are asleep. As the pressure is reduced the disc "sucks up" water and swells. So when we stand up we are slightly taller than when we went to sleep. But this swelling effect makes the disc more prone to injury in the morning. Tell your patients to be very careful about any heavy lifting within the first 3 hours of waking. This means avoid heavy deadlifts and squats in your athletes early in the morning."
