Gosh dang it. I hate this. I was jumping rope a couple days ago and my calf cramped like there is no tomorrow. Now it keeps cramping up. I dont think I am dehydrated and thought my electrolytes were good but I think I am going to get a potassium supp and see if it helps. Anyone else have any good remedies for this? Pickle juice? lol

Re: Calves cramping like crazy when training
Dehydration may be the cause, but I am guessing that because this is a new thing for you, you are putting extra stress on your calves then they are used to. Keep hydrating stretch or roll out calves after, and hopefully as you become accustomed to this it will subside. Many people new to running experience this and shin splints and can also be caused from the shoes worn.Originally posted by Dzone View PostGosh dang it. I hate this. Guns recommended " linements" for me, following my workouts, and there are several kinds.
I would bet that it is more than electrolytes that is the issue.
Notice if when you jump rope you are mostly landing in the ball of your foot( This gives major calve activation). I think it is what most people do when they jump rope.Veritas Vos Liberabit
