Alright guys, don't bash on me too hard here. My wife is going to try and get back into working out and try to get in shape. What she has done in the past is worked out with a trainer friend at her house. I have invited her to come workout with me and I would modify my routine to fit her needs but she hasn't done that either. So based on her goals (which are pretty much inline with mine...(athletic, lean, and overall health) I suggested that Cross fit may be what she is looking for. And actually, the more I think about it, it may be what I'm looking for as well. I had thought about going the power lifting route, but after struggling with this knee injury all year, and talking with other power lifters about how injuries are just part of power lifting and something you just live with....that's not really a life I want to live. I also don't care anything about getting on stage and competing in body building. So I guess I am looking for something in the middle. I have gotten back into martial arts and it just seems like cross fit may give a little more functional strength as far as the arts go. I don't know yet...I'll just have to see how it all plays out.
So what are your opinions on this? Good idea? Dumb idea? Cross fit is not the way to go? From what I have read about Cross fit is it mainly comes down to the trainers. The ones that don't know what they are doing will get you hurt. But I think with my knowledge of lifting that I will know what to do and not to do as far as bad technique....you know?
I just know how hard it is for me to try and get in shape with my wife at home cooking and eating whatever she wants. So if we are both on the same page with getting in shape, it will be that much easier. And I am trying to figure something out that we can do together to help keep each other motivated and just spend more time together. Because, to be honest, between her school and work and my work, gym, and martial arts.....we just don't see each other as much as we used to. I am a big family man and love for us to do things together.
