  • Need a chest routine for elbow pain..

Have searched and searched and cannot find a chest routine for someone with tendonitis in their elbows..

I can handle all the flyes in the world and love to go heavy with them.. It is the presses that is the problem. I just cannot go heavy anymore because of the tendonitis (even with sleeves on) and my chest just SHRANK.. I mean ANY type of presses.

Do you guys think that sticking with higher reps and lower weight with the presses and still going as heavy as I can with the flyes will work? So far it is not doing jack..

I need to switch it up.. This is how a typical chest day goes.

Flat DB press (after warm ups) 4 sets of 8 to 10.
Flyes (flat or incline) 4 sets of 10 to 12
Incline press (DB or bar) 4 sets of 8 to 10
    Crossovers 4 sets of 10 to 12

Last week I pre-exhaused with crossovers BEFORE the presses....since I know I cannot go heavy with the presses anyway. Felt good when I finished.

Any thoughts? I have been to doc after doc and they all just give me anti-inflammatories and tell me to quit going to the gym. And that ain't gonna happen. Sucks to get old.

Basically, until your elbows heal up more, just take it light. But in the meantime & in between time, go to a sporting goods store and buy yourself some elbow wraps. It will give you more support. Also, check with the doctor that's helping you with that elbow problem (if there is one) and ask him/her for BioFreeze ointment. If they can't help, go to their website www.biofreeze.com. I've had 2 knee operations (4 in all so far) and the surgeon center that did my left knee gives me some on every visit. It comes in gel and roll-on. I prefer the gel since it lasts longer than the roll-on (a little goes a long way).

I use wraps AND biofreeze... LOL.

This has basically went on for the past year. I have taken weeks off from pressing movements and it is still there. They just keep telling me to take more time off and give me more pills.

Fly movements do not bother them at all. And light presses don't either. Just kind of lost on how to change it up to work around it to add fullness back to my chest without heavy presses.

NEED REST OR INJECTIONS IN BOTH AREAS OF THE ELBOWS.STICK STRICTLY WITH MACHINES AND GO LITE. BUT UNTIL YOU GET MEDICAL ATTN TO SEE IF IT CAN BE HELPED THEN THERES REALLY NOTHING YOU CAN DO BUT JUST WORK THROUGH IT
