Okay, don't flame me too much for this post but I am trying to learn as much as I can by reading and what not. I have worked out quite a bit when I was younger, but I was just pushing weight and never looked at caloric intake or diet...I didn't really think that much about my workouts. It has been a while since I have worked out any. I have started the P90x but I think I need to get a little better base before I would see really good results from that. I am now 30 years old and I have gotten way out of shape and I am tired of it. So now I am on the road to understanding my diet, the correct way to weight train, etc...What would be the correct steps to take to get into bodybuilding? I am not looking at getting deep enough into it to compete or anything, I just want to get into it for myself and to get in better shape.
Here are my stats just FYI...5'8", 180-185lbs, ?BF%(I used calipers in the P90X thing, and if I was doing it corretly, it was around 20%...does that sound right?). My work is not that active, but I play alot of golf. I try to be outside as much as I can around the house. Any suggestions other than read and figure it out, because I have been reading and will continue to do so, but you guys know what works and what doesn't. My hardest problem has always been figuring out what to eat on a budget. The P90X program helped out a little in that area.
I assume that to get a better look I would need to diet and lose my fat and then start on the weight training portion more heavily, is that correct? If I have this completely off just shoot it to me straight...it won't hurt my feelings at all. I just want to understand the how's, when's, and why's. So if anyone wants to take me under their wing and show me the way....I am ready!!!
