    or anyone else for that matter. have a cardio question. i'm currently using the treadmill as my cardio of choice. i don't like stairsteppers as they put a lot of stress on my knees and surrounding muscles, and i'm not a fan of elipticals either (especially for long periods). what i'm doing is i start off for about 2-3 minutes on a 4 incline at about a pace of 2.5ish, i then go up to about 3.5 at an 11 incline til about 12-13 minutes, then go down to about a 6 incline and down to a speed of 3 until about the 15-16 minute mark, then i'll go up to a 15 incline and a 3.8 or 4 walk until my cool down at the 30 minute mark, then i cool down at a 3 incline for a pace of about 2.5 or 2.8.

    does that sound about right? i run about 1.5 miles in each 30-35 minute session and i'm shooting for at least two 30-35 minute sessions 5 days per week. thats what i've done so far. in the morning is a must, and after i train, i'll do pretty much the same scheme. each cardio session also burns appx 250-270 cals. so thats 5 days a week i'm burning right at or over 500 cals, and thats not even including cals burned in my 30-40 minute high intensity training sessions. i'm down about 4-5lbs since sunday, so i think i'm doing well so far.

    my question is, does that cardio set up sound about what you guys do? my heartrate average on the treadmill is roughly mid 140's.

    i dont like the way that u are doing ur incline wt all my respect to u..u are going from 4 to 11 and back to 6 and back up to 15.........CAN U TELL ME WHY U ARE DOING THIS?
    the way i do it i start at 15mns at 3.0 for 2-3, JUST TO WARM UP AN THEN FROM 2 MNS TILL 15MNS AT 3.5 AND FROM 15-30MN IS 3.7-3.8 AND NO MORE THAN THAT AND I DO THE COOLDOWN, I THINK IT DROPS U TO 3.2 AT INCLINE 7.5 AND SO FORTH TILL U HIT 0...
    THE ONLY REASON I WENT UP TO 3.7-3.8, COZ I HAVE 5-6 WEEKS B4 I HIT MIAMI IN AUGUST NOW... BUT USUALLY I DO IT FOR 3.5 ALL 30 MNS

    FIRST COUPLE OF TIME U WILL HAVE PAIN IN THE ANKLE COZ U ARE NOT USED TO IT, BUT AFTER A WHILE IT WILL GO AWAY...
    PS: I HATE ELEPTICAL AND STAIRSTEPPER, NOT A FAN EITHER

      i go up and down cuz i smoke ( i know i know) and my endurance is shitty. so what is the highest you go up on incline and for what period of time?

          15 incline at 3.5mph for 1hr plus 5 minute cool down burns 1012 calories.

            Make sure you dont hold onto the handrails when on a good incline. Thats only cheating yourself.

              wow^^ i don't have an hour at once, i'd have to do 2-30 minute sessions. my morning time is whats limited. i'm gonna try 15 incline tomorrow morning starting at about the 3 minute mark just to see how long i can go. i don't have to work tomorrow morning, so i'll just see how long i can hold out. i'll report back in this thread to see how it went and how soaked i got the treadmill with sweat,lol.

                i do that so i can see what my heartrate is. i don't lean back or anything, i keep up with it. its not a support is what i'm saying, i just like to see what my hr is.

                        If your treadmill allows you to take long strides it will make a big difference when going with a high incline.

                        Checking your heartrate is fine. Just don't hang on to them when you arent checking it.

                            Thats fine for x amount of time. Your hr doesn't have to be the same all the way through your session.

                              he is right..it will varies..
                              u will c it very high and drops low an back up and low again and ect....
                              u will sweat and then stop sweating and back again and so forth
