My .02cents is that T/4 is the correct supplement for depressed thyroid output. I agree with guns about all his points.
The time to add the T/4 is when morning body temp changes. So, for some people it might be a month, 2 months 3 months. It does not have to start at once. There is one other thing I'm trying to find the study on. Guns might have touched on this. There is something about the conversion from t/4 to t/3 in the body that is also good for us.
Gc
Holy crap this is getting complicated now lol. I am going to add all these things into my arsenal at the end of this next cycle and run it into my next but I got some studying to do obviously... Guns be expecting a PM sooner or later LOL.
If you are going to use t4 and you want to get the best from it, here is some info from the insert :
Some medications or supplements can make SYNTHROID less effective if taken at the same time, so it's best to take SYNTHROID 4 hours before or after you take these things. Some examples are iron products, calcium supplements, or antacids.
Take SYNTHROID as a single dose, preferably on an empty stomach, one-half to one hour before breakfast. SYNTHROID absorption is increased on an empty stomach. Some foods may cause your body to absorb less SYNTHROID, including infant soy formula, cotton seed meal, walnuts, and high-fiber foods. Your dose of SYNTHROID may need to be adjusted if you consume these foods.
Store SYNTHROID away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep out of the reach of children.
One more thing about t4, T4 is supposed to convert into t3. Now for everyone this doesn't always work like it should . When people are under extreme physical and or mental stress, the conversion may not happens as it should. remember everyone is different.

I never have been good at separating it from my other meds

It says this for a reason so maybe it works for you but I usually try to follow directions to get the most benefit from things. This has been stressed to me by my Doc and others docs that I know who take synthroid. Seemed like an important thing
Well damn go get me my T4 tyhen and makle it quick

I agree with what Baby is saying as I have thyroid and adrenal issues. Your adrenals affect your ability to convert T4 to T3.
I have taken armour thyroid from the get go and it is a mix of t4 and t3. Been on it for 4 years now.
Interestingly even after taking it my morning temp would sometimes bottom out. It wasn't until I started using low dosed prednisone and adrenal supplements until my temp got regulated. If I ever do long intense workouts or physical labor I can expect my temp to drop if I don't supplement with adrenal supplements as well as really good electrolyte supplements.

I agree i started t4 synthroid when I was 17 I've always taken in am with other meds and bloodwork comes back fine so I never worried. I do take sromachmeds which cpuld affect it (pariet) which scares me and one tried to stop it but heartburn central and wake up almost puking. That being said reading your post before baby I am not sure docs dp the right test and only test.my t4 so who knows how it is actually converting. I'll ask to test t3 again soon
