  • What hormones improve insulin sensitivity?

I have always had issues with blood sugar and insulin levels. In my own experience I always lean out best when I keep my carbs lower. I assume that the reason being is I am desensitized to insulin.

I know testosterone improves insulin sensitivity but was curious what other hormones improve insulin sensitivity. I know hormones like cortisol can have impact on it.

I plan on doing my own research but wanted to pick the brains of some experts as well.

None that I know of, though I will do some research as it interests me.

Do some research on eating a more anti inflammatory type of way. Foods that inflame spike the cortisol and then it goes on

Thanks Baby I have read many books on this but eating this way seems very unrealistic for me. Normally an anti-inflammatory diet is high in fish (cool with that), high in vegetables (ok with this) but then starts eliminating grains, dairy, and other foods that might be seen as inflammatory. Not cool with that. lol I can cut back on these foods but doing away with them is not realistic to me.

test like you already pointed out is the only compound that does so directly that i am aware of. now you could look into metformin as well as supplemental glucose disposal agents. i dont think you have to go all anti inflamatory in your diet but by going almost completely low gi with you carb choices you will get a much better insulin sensitivity naturally. if you are able to eliminate sugar entirely your insulin response will be outstanding as well as your body's ability to burn and utilize fat more effectively. something a lot of people dont take into account is a health liver. the healthier your liver is the better you body will perform across the board

I hear what you are saying. I have seen this help someone but the reasons were different, I guess. Hopefully you will find what works for you and please share when you do

Baby I think it depends on your health situation. If I had a health issue that was debilitating I would definitely do it but I don't consider my issues severely chronic. I do my best to eat relatively clean and exercise daily. If my issues ever get really bad then I would be more willing to go down that restrictive road.

Great topic. I can relate to this as well. But I get confused I think when you say insulin sensitivity. I am hypoglycemic. I have low blood sugar all the time. So would I technically be insulin sensitive since I react so much to it? I tried humalong a lot and always had issues with that.

No I haven't had a chance to really research it. Sorry bud.

There are GLP-1 analogs you can buy, which are great for combatting Type 2 diabetes. Other than that, I found nothing that is not already well known for helping out. These are: Exercise regularly, lose weight, get enough sleep, and eat your green leafy vegetables.
