I do dead lifts every second back work out alternating them with barbell rows. If my forms off my back kills the next day so I'd say to watch your form and keep the weight light

ya goliath, i have similar prob as you.
i have fractures down both sides of my L4 and 5
i guess we could be worse off and born with no arms or somethingKeep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great ones make you feel that you too, can become great.

DL's can really screw you up if you dont do them right. You REALLY need to make sure you stretch your hamstrings out well before you start incorporating DLs into your program. This usally takes a couple weeks of stretching hams daily if you're really tight. Tight hams pull your pelvis back, which extends the low back and puts pressure on the disks--not good. Flexible hams allow you to keep an arch in your back and not pressure the disks. Make sure youre flexible, start slow w/ good form--I like to video my DL's occ. to make sure Im still OK-- and the strength will take off. Good luck!-----+++DrugFree4Life+++-----

why dont you try and do less weight, and make sure your form is proper. and warm up first. i start with deadlifts with a 25 on each end as warm up. then do a 35 on each end. then do a 45 on each end. then i put a 10 ontop of each side do one more set and im done. my lower back will be nice and sore. if you are over doing it, your backs going to hurt. if your form is incorrect, you are going to hurt. if you get a good workout, you are going to hurt. try and figure out which of the 3 it is.5'10

Are you taking any oral steroids?? D-bol and Anadrol give me unbearable pumps in my lower back.....
Drink more water and eat more bananas, too.....I swear, eating a banana or two before a back workout has made the difference in my making it through the workout or having to stop prematurely from lower back pumps
