Wind Sprints are the best I have found, but you gotta have balls and determination....Done right-they are NO PHUCKIN FUN at all...I've been taking 2 spin classes a week 1 hr each and 2 sport zone classes (intense anarobic interval training) this winter....I'm still gaining mass...I shall start sprinting again next month and hope to compete in master level 100m and 200m events this summer along with entering my first show...I'm 43

I did a cutting cycle last summer, 12 weeks before the Olympia, mostly to see what would happen. I tried to do low intensity cardio, but it I would always end up picking up the pace because it didn't feel like I was doing anything.

I think next time I will try either the Max-OT style cardio (16 min high intensity interval), or like what Goliath Jr said, 45 min @ low-intensity.

Does anybody have any experience with the Max-OT cardio?

I have tried all of the max-ot stuff. I like intervals, but I am just too afraid of loosing muscle. What I like a bout low intensity, is that you are still burning the calories, but not at such an intensity that it turns catabolic. Sure, you have to go twice as long - I would preffer twice the ammount of time that loose twice the amount of muscle.
The burden of originality is one that most people don't want to accept. They'd rather sit in front of the TV and let that tell them what they are suppose to like, what they're suppose to buy, and what they're suppose to laugh at. You have Beavis and Butthead telling you what music you're allowed to like and not like, and you've got sitcoms that have canned laughter that lets you know when to laugh if you're too stupid to know when the joke is. People are too lazy and too stupid to think for themselves because America has raised them that way.

Just a side note - I love the max-ot style lifting routines. I tried them a few years back and have stuck to modified versions ever since.

How many do you do (and how much time in between)?
I concentrate more on time. I try to stay out there about 20-25 minutes after stretching.

I will do some 50's and walk back or I will run the straights and walk the curves.

I really don't think it makes a whole lot of difference as long as you are using some type of interval training.

Here is my routine from Sept......Keep in mind I am an ex sprinter and college RB who is in good cardio shape

Jog 1/2 mile then pick-up the pace for another mile
8 200 meter sprints walikng back
8 100 meter sprints walking back
                    8 60 meter sprints
crawl to car and go home to die!

I did this two days a week with at least 1 days complete rest before and after leg day in gym.
Resent articles suggest sprinting actually speeds up the metabolism meaning the body will begin to burn more calories at rest where as long periods of aerobic excercise will actually cause the body to strore un used calories...which makes sense if you think about it...the body DOES NOT wish to carry ANY fat for speed, but does need strenght of muscle to explode quickly...my legs are huge...just today a dude at the gym said I had legs like a race horse...6' 230lbs 42 years old...WANNA RACE!?

btw... I agree with nautica......explosion and reach max heart rate...then do it again...the trouble with so many aerobic excersises done for any length of time is they cause me to lose weight in my shoulders....take a good look at a sprinter...they are big, strong and lean

I like low intensity like walking i feel it is the most muscle friendly and will allow most muscle retention...XXL
