Either not deep enough or missed the muscle tissue completely. I would keep and eye on and and watch for fever..but wouldn't anticipate any further complications.

Tell your buddy to spend a few minutes researching pinning techniques and advice. Like Pitt said, he probably missed completely. Has your buddy tried a 25g before stepping up to 23g?

if hes pinning himself hes better off pinning biceps or shoulders. those are the 2 i hit and its much easier to walk the next day. as for healin up the ass, warm that puppy up and get the blood flowing there... give it a nice massage or two a day. itll dissipate eventually.

If he gets to the point where walking is hard because of the bad shot, Motrin will be his friend...

I get that too from time to time.. especially when you hit those scar tissue patches where you can't push the plunger to save your life.

i know a guy that mighta hit his syatic (not sure how spelled) nerve once and it looked like he had a softball in his back pocket for i think a couple weeks. it was a long time ago. anyway just tell your friend to be careful. 1.5" is definitely long enough though. i even use 1" on glutes and all seems well
