I dont see any possible negatives. Make sure he drinks plenty of water.

      BTW,
Since hes a type I (im guessing) what does his diet look like? Any fat in it? Im just wondering if a BBer diet when on slin differs from a real diabetics diet.

He said creatine, i dotn think anythign was mentioned about dextrose or cell-tech, not trying to be an ass Crank. Although im sure insulin adjustments would have to be made if he did use a cell-tech type or product.

Yeah I think if he just stuck with creatine monohydrate he wouldnt need to worry.

I have to say that is awesome that your son is so active despite the diabetes. I see too many people who use it as an excuse to be a lazy out of shape schmuck. He deserves props.

Wouldnt he have to take an insulin shot if he used a sugar carb like dextrose? I think this is too much worry for a 16 year old.

I would hope he or his son would have enough sense to know about sugar and being diabetic, im sure they do, as you said regular creatine is the best, no need to disrupt or alter his injection schedule.

The point of including dextrose it to trigger an insulin spike in which helps force creatine into muscle cells.

Since he is type I, his spikes are manually controlled by his shots.

So it would be best to take this creatine same time his shots are being taken.

I cant think of any reason why it would be bad, unless you added in high dextrose, which may end up having high blood sugar from the excess...so I would probally avoid that and use a plain creatine with it.

Again, I see no problems, but Im not an endo. In fact, you may try to ask Fonz. I think he is a diabetic, not too sure though.

I was refering to his first post, in a sucessive post he did state he was considering both. I would definitley consult his doctor before using a cell-tech type. There are plenty of no carb creatine deliverys, like V12, or Swole, both of which worked well for me, and Im a so-called "non-responder" to regular creatine.

well he lifts weights then comes home from school ..then takes his supper shot and eats .. i thought about him taking creatine then at that shot time like before he injects his insulin

OK diabetic here and I use Phosphagen... Billy you are correct in saying that the insulin spikes are caused by our shooting of .. well .. insulin... but you need to keep in mind if I or his son were to take creatine on its own we could not take a shot of insulin WITHOUT the dextrose... otherwise we would go into a coma...

FYI - about 4 weeks ago I simply moved around my insulin shots.... I workout in the morning and immediately after take 15 units (Humolog) with 2 servings of phosphagen and a cup of oatmeal. about an hour later i take a whey shake and some other type of solid protein.. usually eggwhites... in this 4 week period my bf has definately lowered and i have gained 10 pounds...
