I always read about taking supplements for "liver protection", but how can taking something extra protect your liver? Are you replenishing something that is removed from the liver? I really don't know HOW the liver actually works.
It just seems like too simple of a formula, "take this and your liver will do better".
I know a lot of people are going to get all upset over this, but forget the Milk Thistle, ALA, and whatever other “here today – gone tomorrow” wonder supplement you have in mind.
If you get regular blood tests done before, during, and after the cycle, you will know for sure what effect the drugs are having on your body.
From there you can make the determination if you want to continue to use a particular drug, adjust the dosage, switch to something else, or possibly try some adjunctive medication or maybe even an OTC supplement.
Instead of taking the shotgun approach to safety and blindly spending $50.00 on Milk Thistle, ALA, and Jack’s magic bean sauce concentrate, spend the $50.00 on blood work that will give you some factual feedback as to what you really do or don’t need to do.

I get blood work done tri-weekly while on and have seen the difference that these supplements make on certain AS.
Now, I don't use ALA for liver protection. While it is water and fat soluble, it's not incredibly strong at liver prtection. It os good for regulating insulin sensitivity.
Tylers is supreme as I said before. I lowered my liver SGOT and SCPT levels by points with that supplementation

i take 1500g of ala ED on/off cycle for liver and also so milk thistle. If i'm running a high 17 oral cycle than i'll throw in tylers and suma root. Also w/ the multi vitamins from animal pak and extra C should be fine.

Well said. I don't take any liver protection. I use dbol for long periods of time. I am fine. That's just me though.

Did you get regular tests? On and off cycle? One cant see minute damages to organ tissue through a blood test though. Over time, if you disregard protecting your liver or kidneys for that matter, down the road it will bite you in the ass. r-ALA has been proven to be a better antioxidant than milk thistle as far as protecting the liver is concerned. They dont replace anythign in your liver FYI, the antioxidants scavenge free radicals, which can and will do some damage to your liver and various other organs.
