you are right bro, but the thought of saying I won't do it and hearing him say "I told you the punk would puss out" is too much why does pride overcome common sense and sound desicions. The guy sounds like a puke-most times its best to walk away but with this story this kid deserves an ass beating. Rememeber this though no ass kicking is worth 5-10 years away from your family. I personally know someone who came home to see his girlfriend being assulted by a crack head and this guy beat his ass- the boyfriend got 10 years- the assailent got a wheelchair

I know most guys even his age understand that if they had a family they wouldnt be doing it either. I really dont see why your gym is even sponsoring a real fight.

If you do it you will be fine. Just know that this isnt like anything you have ever done before. Make sure you put him down painfully and in 10 seconds. Its your life and it sounds like it is in danger when you fight him. remember that.

This is one of the most foolish posts Ive seen. But I can understand how you got yourself in a position where you feel you have to fight him to gain respect or not lose respect from peers - not to mention wife and kid. Fucked up situation indeed. This was not a flame btw.

I'd just go with some ECA and get yourself mentally ready. No AS is going to help much w/ your time limit. Plus you just got off and need time off.

This is not going to be at my gym but at a kick boxing and MMA club I am a member of. Fights and sparring occur every weekend and most of us are friends this guy is a fairly new member Ihave fought several times before I found out about my eyes. it's been several years and now I realized that this is an excuse to disregard the prudent thing and just do say to hell with the consequence. I can say it's all pride but the more I think about it the more I realize I want to do this. what he said offended me and disrespected my family.but while at work as I thought about it,the anxiety turned to anticipation, I fought this last night but now I embrace it I will fight.my head is much clearer because I am not fighting for an respect or pride but because I miss it I want to. This is so hard for me to put into words I am a sensible family man but it feels so good doing this I am being reckless I ahve been so conservative in the past I need to twist off. I am about to leave and go to my gym to warm up and start stretching then head to the club. I feel adrenaline pumping me up I can't wait.

it's done I am home with a huge bruise on my right quad from a wicked round kick that almost put me down but I threw a spinning back fist (yea I know it's not a high percentage move) but it hit him right in front of the ear. it didn't knock him out but he went down. He had insisted that there be no shin pads or foot gear but we did wear 8oz gloves, cup and mouth piece. He paid a price for that my long legs pounded his inner right thigh and outer left as well as some low body kicks. now you know I am a southpaw. I let him catch his breath and offered my hand he took it, patted me on my shoulder and said "you win" no apology but thats ok. I am so pumped I didn't stay to watch anybody else go I came home and bought a six pack on the way. I didn't take a shower or even take off my wraps. My wife was good through this whole thing. Thanks for the encouragment bros and the honest opinions I am level headed now I was kinda freaked out by this whole thing when I first made the post. natural high I got.

glad you're alright - good job. If you want to fight then fight - just don't do it for silly reasons like pride. The biggest balls are usually on the man that walks away. I was glad to to read that at least part of the reason you wanted to fight was just to get in there and tear it up with someone. You shoulda made him buy you the six pack though
