    Re: i think i'm done...

I'm 6'1" and have been as high as 260+ I now stay around 240 and would prefer to be 220-230. Its alot of weight to drag around, but they are right cardio helps and I hate it too, but its a must if you want size

Agreed 100%. Dave, if you are feeling like shit at that weight you can try bumping up the cardio but what is the point? I think we should ALL do cardio for the health benefits but I don't think it will matter to make you feel a lot better if your frame is not built to carry the extra weight.

Anymore, I am more interested in FEELING better than being a mass freak. I am 5'7'' and have been up to 250lbs. Talk about feeling like complete shit.... I feel so much better (and actually look a lot better) being right around 200lbs. And to stay at that weight, I don't have to bust my ass doing endless cardio...just enough to help the cardiovascular system out.

Think you should do what makes you feel better, man.

Everyone has pretty much stated what you already know Dave.

However the body will get used to the added weight - it just takes time.
But if you do no cardio - you should just for health sake.
I know every time I jumped weight to a new level it felt bad.
The first time I got to 260 I was Holy Fock!
Then it was 270! Then 280! Your body takes time to adjust.
Now I don't particularly like being 280 - that is a lot but 260 is easy for me now - it just took time. If I want to feel even better then it is a matter of cardio and being active.
              I started at a low of 173.
Now a lean (not ripped) and very impressive walking around weight for me is in the 250 range. And it doesn't take much working out to keep it there.

If you WANT to hold more size then you have to suffer a bit to get there.
If you want to look good and feel good without the periods of feeling overly weighted then stay at a lower weight.

You look frickin fantastic anyway so it's up to you.
You body will adjust - - it takes some time - - but it ultimately comes down to what you want. Are you willing to suffer a little for the longer lasting added size?

thats the million dollar question right there...when i posted this, i was just getting frustrated at being tired and feeling too fat, big or whatever....just seems to take alot of effert to get off the fukin couch, but i guess that could also be stress...and lack of cardio...i'm gonna try to add some cardio and now that spring is coming around, i'm sure i'll drop some water/fat weight...then i'll see...

                  Re: i think i'm done...

for sure get some cardio in bro and also i think part of the problem is that when you try to put on weight it seems like you slam it on pretty fast in anyways that you can. If you have a small frame you need to focus on only gaining lean muscle mass and slowly adding the weight on. I have a huge frame i can ut on 20 pounds and not notice really. However when you put on 20 it would probably nearly kill you. Make sure you lean down and then slowly add weight so that your lean and feeling good.

                      Re: i think i'm done...

I was just about to write a post on this topic. I'm 6'5" and at 220, but was up to 245 last fall. It's really hard for me to bulk up and even harder to keep it on after I'm off a cycle. I've realized I'd rather be 210-220, lean, healthy, and athletic. I'm starting a new routine this week that uses a lot of body weight exercises and mixes up the rep speed and volume. I'll let you guys know how it works.

Anyone have advice on what has worked to build an "athletic" body? Or what kind of cycle would work best?

So how's the cardio going dave and how are you feeling?

drillpress - with regard to building an "athletic" body - simply working out should do that.
At 6'5", 210-220 should be easy enough to hold without the use of any gear.
                        Just eat and workout.
Of course, everyone is different and you may be naturally more lean than others but eating and lifting should get you there without the need for gear.

                            Fair enough -
I'm kind of in the same boat - gotta get my a$$ back to the gym and get in gear.
I've been battling a bit of health problems so it's hit or miss for me.

Well give an update when you have one and let us know how the cardio impacts how you feel.
