yes, it is definitely real. there is science behind it. it is def easier to get back to where you were than to get to where youve never been. seems the longer youve been working out, the quicker it comes back after a layoff...I have had real experience with this and there is no doubt about it in my mind....lets say someone trains for 5 years to get 20 inch arms..then they take 2 months off and their arms shrink to 17. They will prob be back to 20" in a month or so of hard training.

agreed i also think that after a break it can also help with getting past a plateau

        Re: Muscle memory

Unfortunately I have experienced this a few times. It is very real. There are many times with my work and farming it is impossible to keep a regular training schedule, So I end up losing some size during these periods. But when I start back up training again the muscle comes back quickly. The last time I went through this my wife swore up and down I was on something but was not. It comes back that quick for me. So I utilize this for as long as it will last, then I will start a cycle and progress from there. But I see no sence in using during the time when things are coming back quickly on there own.

from what ive heard the hardest part to building muscle is stretching the facia. once thats stretched its easyer for the muscle to re-grow to fill it.

                          Re: Muscle memory

happens with me all the time as my schedule is terrible with full time college, full time job, and a pita race car I miss a lot of time here and there and have lost 10+ lbs in a week but when I get back in the gym weather I miss a week or a month it comes back pretty quick. Strength doesnt though it least for me, Anyone else experience this? I maxed out at 405 on bench a few yrs back and had some layoff time after I bike wreck and was able to get around the same size but most I've been able to put up since then is 345

to echo what everyone else is saying it is definitely a reality. In the past was injured and stopped lifting and started running - got real skinny. Later on I got back in the gym and my strength and size came back very quickly even the gym vets didn't believe i wasn't on something.

I'm in the same position as some of you. I am just getting back to the gym after a 3 year layoff. I sure hope to get back to where I was, but these past 3 yrs have been very, very difficult and as a result, I'm in really shitty shape.
