  • Help for my younger bro..

I need some ideas for my younger brother. He is 32 years old, 5'11 and about 245 lbs. He is way out of shape, weak, and severly overweight. He just started hitting the gym with me about a month ago and is keeping a pretty regular routine of 5 days a week with cardio at the end of lifting. He usually runs for about 20 or 30 minutes.
What can he take to help him shed the weight quickly? I know Ephedra will work, what about clen? Any suggestions?
I feel so badly for him because his self-esteem is so low and I really want to see him happy again. He used to be in great shape but went downhill about 6 years ago. Thanks for any input....

If he just started working out, I wouldnt start him on any supps other than maybe a multivitamin. That and take a real good look at his diet with him.

Let him and his body get used to the lifestyle before you throw anything like ephedra or clen into his system and his life.

I've told him time and time again about his diet. He does eat alot of protein but with alot of fat too..He has gotten to the point where he almost seems like, "oh well, I'm fat and I can't really change it..." I just want him to see the light..

I think that for someone who has had a sedentary lifestyle most of his life, throwing stimulents such as clen or ephedra into his body can be dangerous. No pill will fix his problem, he needs to change his lifestyle. You know that, he just needs to understand that. I know its hard, especially for people who need results quick to believe that what they are doing is working, but you are better off encouraging him, and if you have to, staying on top of his ass.

i agree with roark tho....especially if his diet is not in order. i mean raven u didn't get as ripped as u are with out proper diet did u? if he agrees to get his diet in order why not get him epehdra free hydroxycut or something. might not work all that well, but it can give him a placebo effect and might get his ass in gear. i wouldn't let up on the diet....in fact nag him even more about it. he has to look at u and realize he should be listening to u.

I know how frustrating this can be. A year ago (jan 15 04') I was 5'10" 235 and 12 %. Now I'm 200 and 15 % roughly. Diet can Really kick your ass. I was actually speaking with trainers nutritionists, and my BB partner and no one could figure it out. Now I have to find a way to get back down to 10 % before I can start putting LEAN mass on VERY slowly so it won't EVER happen again.
I know you said your brother used to be in good shape but has fallen away from that. The only thing you can do is keep encouraging him, kicking his ass in the gym and set a good example. Hopefully my short story can encourage him a little. We ALL get a little out of shape at some point; just some worse than others. As far as Supps go.... i agree with the above. If you're going to get him on anything at all, just try some very low key stuff (basic fat burner) and then build up till he see's results. Once he gets down to, say, 13-15%, then maybe think about some light gear. He outta be there in a few months. So good luck....Shiner

Thanks to all for the input, I really appreciate it. I'll keep on him about his diet and hopefully he'll stick to it. I'll try to keep everyone posted on his progress and maybe I can get him to jump on here!!
It's frustrating when someone isn't as dedicated as you want them to be...
              Thanks again...

Diet, cardio, and motivation/ dedication.....If hes severly obese I would personnally hold off on fat burners until he sheds some weight and is putting less stress on his heart.....When I was working as a paramedic I had a 23 year old obese female who started doing cardio and was taking ephedra....bam heart attack...dead at 23...Im not saying the ephedra killed her....believe me I am pro ephedra...but it probably did make her heart work more than it needed at that point

Ed, I'm totally with ya on this, but he gets discouraged before he gets encouraged, you know what I mean? When we're at the gym, he'll say shit about how big or cut I am and then in the same breath say,"I'll never look like you" I try to tell him that I didn't get like this overnight, but if he keeps with it, he'll be right up there with me...I guess you guys are right, I just have to keep on him and keep encouraging...

Re: Help for my younger bro..

Much respect for what you are doing for your brother. I come from a family of morbidly obese people, and am the only one who's normal, although I've had a few periods where I was packing on 30+ lbs of unneeded flab. Your brother needs all the motivation and support he can get. If he's that outta shape, hitting the gym alone will help him start dropping weight like crazy in a month's time.

Good luck to both of you.

What caused him to go downhill 6yrs ago? Your motivation is good, but it could also make him feel less motivated, if he sees you in such great shape. Sometimes it is better if a person does the workouts alone, as he can pace himself. Im sure he knows what to do to get there. Only he can decide when he is really ready to start and make the change.

Re: Help for my younger bro..

Hey bro! You tell your brother that he's doing great and tell him everyday. Positive feedback will go farther than anything else.

Then tell him to set small goals. 5 to 10 pounds. Don't go for more then that or else it seems like he's never getting anywhere.

When he hits a goal you need to make a huge phuking deal about it. Take him out to eat or buy him something to show him how proud you are of him.

Finally, reassure him every time you see him how much you care about him and you are in this with him. I have a younger brother who is overweight and I know what you're going through. However, my brother has a mental disability and it's a lot tougher for him.

                        Good luck bro!

Re: Help for my younger bro..

once he gets his diet in check and his training is on key i say use some gear. low dose test, clen and t-3, anti-e to keep off bloat. Let him do it natural for a while the first 3-6 months will be the most dramatic in change n e ways, once he is stuck at a certain weight or %, its time to use the darkside.
                          best of luck bro.

ravenfan, i now your brothers pain bro, BELIEVE ME!!! same story i'm sure and i didnt even here it yet. for me i just woke up one day and said "thats it!!" i was sick of looking like crap, tired of not wanting to be cought in a picture without a shirt on! for me it was self motivated. everyone around me, with the exception of my wife, asked me why i was doing this, telling me i dont need to do this, i'm fine. i dieted a little, but mostly just added protien shakes..filled the junk food void for me.
for me i did use ephedra. stackers, to be exact. and i hit the weights, and at first i didnt do cardio... i knew i wouldnt like it, so i wanted to keep liking what i was doing, i didnt want to get frustrated, so none for me. i did short rest periods, light to mod weight and as the fat melted off to show some muscle, i got inspired to push heavy, and do cardio.
thats my .02 hope it helps
HE WHO MAKES A BEAST OF HIMSELF, GET'S RID OF THE PAIN OF BEING A MAN!!
