Man that is so far from the truth. I swear if you knew me you wouldn't think that. I hate people like that. But I can tell its going to be a long hard road convincing people of shit that I know but have a hard time explaining. I guess that part of it is just going to take time and patience. You guys can think what you want about me, it really doesn't matter. I failed at getting my point across and establishing credibility with you and its as simple as that. I'll just make sure to do a better job in the future. Its easy to fly off the handle and hard to stay calm when someone insults me but the more practice I get the better off i'll be.

well heres the reply to the email from my professor. He's a doctor that has been studying and teaching pathology for over 30 years.

I completely agree with you on the idea that it is our responsibility to give out information that is as factual as possible. As to dose and frequency of aspirin that may cause gastric complications, there is no single dose. Many people for many different reasons are more susceptible to gastric injury than others. This may be due to the fact that they produce less mucus normally than others or may be due to the fact that they have disorders such as gastritis from other problems or have peptic ulcer disease and that aspirin will compound the problem. The majority of people that take aspirin even daily (regular adult dose 325 mg) do not develop gastric complications.

I find it hard to believe that the 'chemist on-line' thinks aspirin does not affect inflammation!!!!! It was the first NSAID discovered and has been use to relieve inflammation and pain for over a hundred years. The chemistry of aspirin tells you that it must have an affect on inflammation since it is a powerful inhibitor of COX 2. Look at all recommended treatments for patients with inflammatory disease and aspirin is there.

A major difference between aspirin and other nsaids is that unlike the rest, it is a non-competitive irreversible inhibitor of COX. The other nsaids differ in their affinity for COX and their solubility in various tissues (Can they penetrate the blood-brain barrier for instance).
H ere is a general link on nsaids

H ere is another link to some more specific info.

Hope this is helpful and if you have more questions please ask them.

this is the email I sent him

Hey doctor ****** this is **********from class ***. I've been having a friendly conversation with some friends about NSAIDS and i've been trying to explain to them how NSAIDS inhibit COX 1 and 2 yada yada and that COX1 is involved in maintaining the gastric mucosa so blocking this subs. can lead to intestinal bleeding. What they want to know is what dose and frequency would cause this? Also aspirin is not an NSAID but it still inhibits prostaglandins through COX1; is this correct? If you could i'd really like to know as much as you would care to explain about NSAIDS for my personal knowledge and to properly educate others. I really don't want to give false info. I was talking to this chemist online and he was really understating the importance of these facts and said that aspirin doesn't affect inflammation at all, only nociceptors. ??? thanks a bunch..i hope this email wasn't too long.

Using a blanket statement "And plenty of ppl do take it everyday and get ulcers as well" is a statement without validation. Any medications taken in excess over long periods of time will cause adverse reactions.
This just proves my point above^ to your first post to the thread "The majority of people that take aspirin even daily (regular adult dose 325 mg) do not develop gastric complications." Then you have to go on and on and on then Blm9376 posts and you have to put up all your classes?? And as for you, Estan, you don't even know me either so don't get into my shit. Oh, i would like to add you are the one that is adding to this, as i do say in this statement that " I'm not saying your thread is false, it is just misleading, because it is vauge, general etc. There are millions of people taking these over the counter meds, but to the general public that are healthy and without gastro problems, the recommended dosage with not give adverse reactions.

I never meant to lead on that ppl taking the shit at low doses everyday get problems. And I never said it. I'm talking big doses everyday, over time.

Since you editied this statement i'll add on to it too. I'm not talking about people that take the recommended does. i'm talking about people with glutonous overindulgent tendancies that already take loads of other drugs and decide to overindulge in over the counters because they think they are completley harmless at any level. And i'm right.
