  • X-Raying packages

When some of you guys in here get stuff sent fromover seas or even domestic is there a fear of it being X-Rayed by the USPS????? Is this true that the PO actually does this?? I have had mixed reviews on this, some say yes and some say no. And some say it depends only on if the package looks suspicious or not. I don't know for sure cause I don't know any one who works in the PO to ask so I figured I would ask all you guys to see if you all had an answer for this or at least a good idea.

I heard that it is a lot better to go with UPS and/or Fed-Ex than the PO cause those guys just do't give a shit as long as the pack isn't all oily or anything like that.

    Thanks,

i used to work for UPS and the shipping is crappy. the guys who work there loading and unloading trucks dont care about packages.. its just like that chocolate milk commercial, where the package is marked fragile and its slammed and shaken around. so if you ship UPS package carefully.

I was thinking that UPS or Fed-Ex was a better choice but USPS has always been reliable regardless of what I have sent to me or sending something to some one else. I just don't like the thought of X-raying.

Jay C, do know if UPS X-rays packages that get sent through??????

      Thanks,

an x-ray is an x-ray......it goes right through anything. The only time they x-ray, is if the package is "flagged" by a dog, or it looks funny. The best way to send anything.......is to pretend its a birthday gift, wrapping paper and all. They dont rip open little johny's new coloring book!!

I fuckin' knew it! Everytime I get something from UPS, whether from a family member or an online store, the package is all jacked up. That's just not right. Glad it's not just me though.

To answer the thread question, I don't know if they x-ray the packages. I would think that the images that they see could be interpreted as lots of different things. JMO.

So you can wrap your box or what ever you are sending in wraping paper and that is ok. THey won't say, "Gee that might get torn during the sending so I don't think you should send it like that!" I hope they won't say that.

You guys think this would be a good idea forsending stuff or what??

IMHO, (and I read this somewhere too), USPS is a far better bet for shipping packages just because of the sheer VOLUME of mail that passes through customs.

Trust me bro......it works. I worked in the customs mail warehouse for 2 *******. No dogs can smell juice and they dont x-ray every package, unless it looks fishy.

I work at a major Inter. airport and know for a fact the the trained personell have a hard enough time picking out weapons.I really wouldn't worry about a thin metal cap causing enough of a concern. The metal is so light it hardly shows up in comparism to other solids.X-ray ing also takes time to be done properly.Scanning packages properly can't be done in a few seconds.

your right!! Plus it doesn't go through the same procedures that normal mail goes through.

Well if over night ensures that your pack makes it in one piece - I'll pay for it.

I always go domestic any ways. I think I would probably go with USPS.

                        Any one out there agree???

                          I agree.
FedEx and UPS have more controll over your pack and they can open it for whatever reason.
USPS needs a warrant and other procedures to go thru a pack.
USPS is way safer and just as reliable IMO.
Never had a problem with them either.

It took a couple of months for me to receive a fina kit from the states and it was rewrapped by customs...I have no idea if they x-rayed it or just picked it out but I'm always worried about bad luck.

USPS but not to single just them out...'cause they are all in the same business and none of them want to take any more heat then the next...so trust me when I say they all have the same sort of practice in determining what packages to open. In my opinion we can here horror stories from every company. It then comes down to how you can package something and how much karma you dole out in your everyday life
