Generally if you are receiving to an addy and you aren't home (depending on package size) they will either leave a door hanger letting you know where to pick it up, which in turn will need ID and a signature or it will just be left right there...I believe a signature is required w/ pickup when you are at home (no one said it had to be yours though).

I think fed-ex and UPS use the same procedures as USPS as far as leaving a door hanger letting you know what terminal to go to to pick the pack up.

        DOA

i never show ID......just place in the fedex box and zooooom.

the person thats sends you stuff has to check off the confirm delivery box......that means you have to sign and show ID.

          none for sending is needed.

My thing is the usps is a federal agency so they have vested intrest in cooperating with the dea or whoever. Ups fedex and everyone else are in buisness to make money so if you pack it good and dont make it obvious what do they care as far as they are concerned as long as you pay them. The USPS on the other hand is always going to be in buisness because of the tax dollars so they are really not to concerned about customer satisfaction hey if their clientel die down they will just raise taxes or the cost of postage.

                To answer the X-ray question.

X-raying a package is rare, but does happen.

Basically, only suspicious packages are X-rayed. And most suspicious packages are just opened, they don't often x-ray them first.

Most of the time a package is only X-rayed on the following conditions.

                1) Customs wants to examine the package without opening it (watching someone for a sting later for example).

                2) Customs wants to open the package, but are worried about the safety of the customs agent. So they X-ray the package beforehand. (For example, customs is worried it may contain a bomb).

Usually, customs will just open the package if they are suspicious as to the contents.
RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.

Hindsight is always 20/20. But looking back it's still a bit fuzzy.

I was going to say the same thing. The real question is God forbid it does get opened are the penalties more severe for USPS compared to UPS or Fed-Ex? Because USPS is controlled by the Gov., you may get some additional Federal Charges that you might not receive from UPS or Fed-Ex. I am not sure, just throwing it out there.

Domestically speaking, due to the fact that UPS and Fed-Ex are mainly interested in the Almighty Dollar, the % chance it randomly gets opened is probably less compared to USPS.

I remember reading years ago, a Pro bodybuilder got busted receivinga bunch of Ecstacy pills that was sent Fed-Ex. So taking all this into consideration I believe UPS is probably the best option if you are concerned about it being randomly opened. A few weeks back, someone posted that UPS only opens packs if they are leaking something.

Lastly, in terms of express delivery (internationally) I believe a signature is required NO MATTER WHAT! But domestically, the sender can check the box "No Signature required" or the option "To Waive the Signature" and the carrier will just leave it at the door.

Feel free to correct any of the above
