Now does one think they really have to squat to build your legs or can you just do all the other leg machines or leg squat machines they have out there. I dont squat but can build me legs just as big doing other stuff. Squatting outs to much stress on my knees and lower back. I think as us men get older we should stop squatting and do machines

Re: squatting
I would try the leg press. It puts less pressure on the knees if used properly and if you position your legs in different ways you can get the inner thigh as well as the glutes. I only squat for glutes really even tho they will help the quads. You do have to watch your for tho as it can really put a kink in your lower lumbar if you use you back by mistake. Ive done it a couple timesNot good! 0x

Re: squatting
I would say not when your older because joint health and tendon strength may cause healing to be an issue...when your younger I'd say yes 100%. I squatted and deadlifted massive heavy weights for years from 13 to 25 years old. Now in my mid 30's leg press, high rep stuff, plyometrics, stair climber, bike riding etc is plenty for me. I have the mass to not have to kill myself and my joints! I see it this way...its just not worth not being able to move to put up the squats I used too...personally I like it better, my cardio is better for sure cause I don't do it as often!

Re: squatting
I like squatting but my workout partner had some really bad lower back problems and he can't do them so we just use machines. They may not blow them up as much, but I get all I want on the machines."He woke up because I kept punching him in the face." --Thiago Alves
