    Re: Keto Diet and Bodybuilding

Still following the same plan I posted. This Sat is my 1st re feed day. No protein only carbs and suger until I can eat anymore. Taking my body temp soon as I get up and after a full day of re feed. It should sky rocket just from the food.

Are you still on this diet? How low is your daily carb count? Are you getting the results you were looking for?

I know, I did it for the first 4 weeks when I started the challenge, remember? Just been assessing how lax my diet has gotten, a hand full of cashews here almonds there, creamer in my coffee etc... Nothing terrible so that's why it seems ok. Have to do something to see my abs. Very good at staying at the same weight for weeks on end just need a jump start.

use powder creamer to start that will cut your creamer cals by 2/3 or more. then the simplest of simple is to monitor and write down everything that goes into your mouth and make sure you measure it. then wave it like i do so your body cant adapt to it. cals high mid low and then repeat. going to long with too low of cals then splurging for a little bit will make your body hold that fat as hard and long as possible and drive your metabolism down in the gutter. hardest part is to keep it firing while keeping the fat coming off. maybe a stretch of zero carbs would be a jolt but when you add then back in most likely you are going to see a rebound pretty quick

Regardless, I'm a proponent of low carb. I feel so much better at this approach, alert, full and plenty of energy. Very simple approach.

your body is wired that way. most of us are not. for me it doesnt matter how high my fat and protein intake is. after a short period of time my body completely crashes out. no pumps, no energy no drive, and sugar crash passing out is insane especially after cardio

not saying one way is right or wrong. dave pullumbo is a huge advocate of this method and does it with his clients. i am just speaking from my personal experiences and observations. i dont know to many people really that have had great success with it. one of the biggest fall backs i see with most is that when they go back to consuming carbs most put on more fat than when they started. i think some people are more tuned into it naturally than others

I think you are not getting enough fat. sounds like you are still running on carbs. even if you are not eating a lot like 40 carbs a day, if your protein is too high then your body will perform gluconeogenesis on the excess of protein and metabolize it into glucose so your body will be running on a small amount of carbs which are quickly depleted.

if you choose you may be a guy who has to be real careful with protein/ fat ratio. some folk need 75% fat and 25% protein and almost no carbs.

once fat adapted MOST people do not have highs and lows after exercise, after eating, and when they wake up. Another thing if you have a wicked low BF sometimes your liver will continue to make glucose as there is not an abundance of fat. As a body builder you want a BUNCH of protein. 50/50% is a BARE minimum for this diet. if you look gram for gram I bet when you tried it you were in a protein surplus.

try exogenous ketones for the first week as well and you will be in DEEP ketosis by the 7th day. I love em but cannot afford them.

brother we have tried it all. i was zero and i mean zero as in no carbs from any source period for up to 45 days. we tried 50/50 pro carbs we tried 30/70 and even f75/25 all fat to carbs. we tried different types of fat etc.... no beuno on that type of dieting at all. could be what i did for a living on top of what type of training i do as well but i would doubt it because we did my numbers cal wise and even went to maint for a while and it didnt work either. i will stick with what i do and coach people the same way. i have only found 2 people in almost 20 years that had success with a keto style approach and max would be the third larger than average

there are certain gene expressions that make keto very difficult for some. but most folk I talk to love it. I mean they loose fat like crazy. prob is without a change after they come off it slowly comes back. that is what I do. diet down in the summer and get fat in the winter.

that's the biggest issue i have with using it on people man. it works outstanding for some and peels the fat off as long as their body tolerates it but as soon as they start to bring back carbs in they usually end up putting on fat like a champ. if you are down for it it is also a great way to lean down super quick
