  • Contest prep nutrition---anybody here advanced national level comp??

    Hello team,

I just competed in a natural level comp, and qualified for Provincials---after Provincials is Nationals.

I have done 2 comps in the last 2 years, my best placing and shape was in 2010 where I was 220lbs, and stepped on stage 190lbs, taking 2nd place in teh light heavies.---I lost because I was not dry enough by no means. But 2nd place is amazing too.

This time around I stayed natural and was 205 off season, competed at 178 with semi striated glutes, not 100% straited. I got 3rd place in a horrible line up.
I once again was not dry enough, was holding too much water, flat, and was way too small.

Competition prep is all trial and error for sure. But i see other guys who compete and do so so well.

I have until Setpember 2013 to prep myself....it is far from my city, so this comp is a big deal for me.

I am currently bulking back up to 220lbs, and want to compete at 190 again.

Does anybody on this site prep others for contest. Thi smay sound crazy, but I would prefer a national level competitor at the least.

I got 12 months, time is short.

B2J, shoot me a pm and I'll give you the name of a prep guy I know and think is the best in the business. He is not an advertiser here so I don't want to post his info on the open forum.

my man you are entirely to tall to compete at 190lbs. you are going to have to strap down and come up to at least heavies at your height to be competitive. no way at your height you can stand next to some one that is 5'6"-5' 8" at the same weight as you. that is just my opinion and i am your height and compete at the top of heavies bottom of supers

Re: Contest prep nutrition---anybody here advanced national level comp??

My best show was in 2010 when I placed 2nd in the over all.
Off season I was 220 and came down to 190 on stage.

I need to stay light heavy for my height. If I can bring in similar condition, but without all the smaller mistakes made, I will win the over all this time.
This year I was 178 hoping to take it all, but ****ed up my carbs and water the last 3 days---- big mistake----its how things go, we learn, and move on. I wish my prep guy for that show was still talking to me, but he has chosen to just let things be. I maintain my last email to him, shit happens, we just don't make the same mistake THREE times again.

I over heard the provincials are hit and miss, because there can be a line up of 5 guys that look like shit, or there can be a line up of 10 guys that have striated glutes all over.

I have 12 months to make things happen...it starts right now.

I am currently 205 and climbing real fast to 220.

Anabolic I will PM you thank you!

Damn B2J, that short summary of what you have done and what you have to work for was interpreted by me as truly inspirational.

Good luck and keep us updated? Are you running a log here?
