  • Creatine before or After Workout?

    Is it better to take creatine before or after your workout. Or shoud you split it up. When do you guys (or gals) take it?
    Also same question about protein shake?
    Ladies........Does size REALLY Matter??

    Take Protien shake with creatine after with simple carbs(dextrose). Mix them all together within 1 hour after wkout.

          Post workout, your muscles are begging for nutrients after a workout, and will uptake things like creatine much better, especially when spiking insulin with something like dextrose/whey shake
          I eat at least 6 times a day to build my body

            There's a long running debate about this. Some say take before to increase your ATP levels for working out. Some say after since your muscles need it most. But everyone aggrees that you should take it with some form of Dextrose to increase the absorption rate of Creatine.
            The best bet is take 5 grams before. 5 grams after. That's just my .02 cents...

              I think its in universal agreement to take it with a simple sugar to spike insulin. Given dextrose is cheap, it is often the choice. I prefer a 50/50% split of malto and dextrose (malto is cheap also).
              Check your protein powder, whey has the ability to spike insuling, etc. The whole nine yards. If it contains a lot of simple sugar, dont even go for the dextrose/malto. If you use a gainer post workout (ie. N-Large 2), certainly dont add more malto. its packed with malto.

              As far as dosing-

              Some take 10grams post workout
              Some take 5 grams post workout
              Some take 5 grams pre and 5 grams post workout, etc.

              I have done all 3. I have seen comparable, if not identical results with all 3 methods. Best of luck.

                      I have only been taking it on workout days and have gotten good results this way. I'm not sure the science or chemistry behind it, but i'm gettin good results this way.

                        Then by all means, continue to do that. The idea behind loading and dosing on off days is to elevate your plasma creatine levels quickly, a lot of people have naturally high creatine levels (myself included) so I have only been consuming 5grams post workout and thats it.
