I'm 41 years old. 280lbs, the heaviest that i've ever been. 18-20% bf. and looking to compete for my first time this June. My training is sound and well established. I've got the basics of the dieting but I could use some help in that area obviously. Any suggestions?

Re: looking for some help
You gave some background, but not enough to really give any suggestions.
Are you on AAS currently? Have you ever run T4/T3? Do you get regular bloodwork done?A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have. -Thomas Jefferson

Have you ever done any cyclesDisclaimer: Steroid use is illegal in a vast number of countries around the world. This is not without reason. Re: looking for some help
I'm 5 foot 7 inches tall.
Just finishing a short cycle of sust only. Done a few cycles in the past. Not running t3 or t4. Have pct on hand, but considering bridging into primo while dieting to maintain muscle while on low calorie diet. Just looking for diet help. I'll provide some pics tomorrow if I can find the time.

Re: looking for some help
Last bloodwork was well prior to running the sust. Everything was reported to be fine. Doctors are at a premium around here so I'm not going to piss him off with more. He knows I've been on but obviously has advised me against it.

Re: looking for some help
Pics won't help as much as to what your diet is. Some people say they have it down, but obviously if your having problems something is a miss.
Whats going on?

Re: looking for some help
I just believe that I have alot to lose and don't want to fall short. I'm going to try the competitive bodybuildng then I'm in it to win. I've always lifted for power and never payed as much attention to getting lean. I've dont the reading just don't have the experience. I'm really a rookie in this area. The literature says that I should be taking in over 4000 cal per day just to maintain. I don't eat like that now! I have the metabloism of a slug I think.

Calorie Counter & Diet Software: Lose Weight 100% Guarantee. FREE. Food Diary, Top Diet Software as seen in Wall Street Journal.
You can download a free 30 trial. It's a really good program to track what you are eating and how much. If you use it, you will know within 2 weeks what your metabolic rate is and you'll see if you are taking in enough protein...

Re: looking for some help
Free all the time
Log that for a few weeks. You'll be surprised at what you eat and what you think you eat.
If logging your food is too much "work", then dieting won't ever work out for you. Not trying to be rude, but you get out what you put into it.
Obviously we are starting from square one, so this is step 1. Find out exactly what you're eating.

THis is something I do with every client I have.
FIRST - List every single thing you put in your mouth for the next week. IT doesn't matter if it's sugar free gum I need to know.
THEN - the process can start.
What everyone is saying is that it is very hard to give helpful direction without knowing the base information.
They may prescribe a diet plan or direction that would do more harm than good.
When doing this type of thing, even moreso on the internet, it's very, very critical to have ALL the information up front before someone suggests something that backfires. then they are seen as the blame when the necessary information wasn't there to begin with.
Just trying to help.

Re: looking for some help
Yes, it is easy just to say lift more, lift less, eat less, shoot steroids. That's generic information and not truely helpful advice. Unfortunately it's what is given out all too often.
Diet is 90% of this game. The rest falls into place.
When i say diet i mean eating in general even if you aren't on a "diet" persay. The old saying goes...you are what you eat.
