  • eating late at night

    I have a horrible problem at night. I eat like crazy before bed,10-11pm 12am at night. during the day I eat some what but it seems at night i'm so damn hungry. any suggestions

      Stick to low/no carbs and med fat high protein meals. Basically things like 80% lean ground beef, chicken and natty pb, or eggs, etc. Basically the boring stuff

              I have the same problem if I didn't have a good enough dinner (when I comsume most of my fats). I try to drink a full 16 ounce glass of water to fill me up some in case I break and I'm going to eat. The next suggestion really depends on wether it is the I'm a little hungry and need something before I go to bed OR is it the I'm starving because I've been keeping my diet in line so well for weeks that my body is incinerating anything I put in it and i"m about to eat everything in sight! Since number one is usually taken care of with a protein shake I'll assume it's the latter. That's when I need to consume some fats. One that does the trick for me is to chop up some chicken breast, put it in a pan with genurous olive oil and add my favorite chicken seasoning. With some fat free ranch dressing on the side it usually does the trick. If I'm still craving anything I'll open a can of spinach or green beans.

                Scientists are finding out that what time you eat is not as big of a factor as some originally believed. There is no magic time after which the body stores fat. For instance, if you eat the same exact meal at 6 pm or at 8 pm, is one more caloric than the other? No, each meal has the same number of calories. What really matters is the total amount of food and drink you have over the course of a week, or a month or longer, and how much energy you expend during that timeframe. Excess calories will be stored as fat over time, regardless of whether they are taken in during the day or night.

                  My suggestion is to make sure you're getting quality calories and not sweat what time you get them as long as you're getting the proper amount of calories over a 24 hour period.

                    I can't help because I have the same problem. About an hour after supper, no matter how much I eat for dinner I ready to start snacking. And it's usually not good snacks. I can eat until I go to bed. Doing it now. lol

                      EXACTLY.. I switched to three moderate/low carb meals during the day with lean protein and after about 12 to 1PM I eat no carbs and stick with fat/protein/veggies for another two to three meals a day.

                      Before I hit the bed I will have either a handful of almonds, natty PB and cottage cheese.

                      High fat really helps me to curb the night time cravings. If I wake up in the middle of the night and am hungry, I will eat more natty PB, almonds or cottage cheese.

                      Bro...you should try this diet. You won't really pack on the pounds but if you are trying to cut bodyfat (and do little to no cardio) it is awesome.

                          I started doing IF (intermittent fasting) because I'm rarely hungry in the morning and have more of an appetite later in the day. So far I'm liking this pattern of eating. I have a substantial protien/fat meal before bed. Leangains

                              Fuzo.. You might also try adding a diet coke or something similar that is carbonated with your higher fat meal in the evening.

                              I have found that eating red meat with the veggies and adding a diet carbonated drink will bloat me for a while and keep me satiated until morning most of the time. Even a half of a diet coke or diet dr. pepper works for me.
