I usually slam a small protien shake about 30min-1hr before a work out to combat muscle loss whil doing post cardio. Anyone else do this ? What do you add to your shake. Would it be better to go on an empty stomach?

Eating before a workout.

I throw in some maltodextrin/dextrose to fuel muscles. I don't always have a shake though. It just depends on the time of day. If I workout an hour or two after a meal, I make sure I ate a balance of protein and carbs. After the workout is when I always down the maltodextrin/protein shake.
