Need some help with reccomendations on things to eat for my new job. Im doing hard labor as some of you know. Our new site is about an 1.25 hours from my place so add that to 8 hours and another 1.25 to get back and everyone changing and all, Im out there for about 11-12 hours. I see this as a good time to work on my diet especially since Im burning a lot more cals than I used to.
A lot of these guys dont even eat out there and when they do, they eat junk food. They always bring sodas which I know dehydrate and have tons of sugar. I've been trying to eat different from them but its hard when youre out of breath and someone tosses you a Mountain Dew.
I usually bring a couple sanwhiches, some trail mix, dehydrated apples and a couple of those arizona energy drinks that are like tea and juice in one. The last few days I've been bringing a 2 quart gatorade that I mix creatine, taurine, vit c and gluatamine into. I try to sip on that throughout the shift.
I just dont know what to eat out there, I mean we're on a rig, dirty, fithy and water plus mud everywhere. I cant exactly bring out a few chicken breast and rice on a plate. The work sometimes gets me breathing really hard but its mostly picking up heavy stuff, shoveling trenches for all the water, making connections for drilling and cleaning.
Anyone have any ideas?
