Check out this from the "Alberta Egg Producer Board":

    Different Types of Eggs:

Organic - hens are fed a special feed having ingredients that were grown without pesticides, herbicides and commercial fertilizer so as to preserve the integrity of the soil. The nutrient content of these eggs is no different than the nutrient content of conventional eggs. Organic eggs, like conventional eggs, contain no antibiotics or hormones.

Vegetarian - hens are fed a special diet of feed containing ingredients of plant origin only.

Omega-3 - These eggs are created by including 10-20% of flax in the hen's diet, which in turn, results in these eggs being higher in omega-3 fatty acids than conventional eggs. (Omega-3 fatty acids may help lower blood triglyceride levels.)

Free Range/Free Run - true free-range eggs are those produced by hens who have access to nesting boxes, open floor space, perches and have access to outdoor runs. Due to climate conditions in Alberta, however, no commercial operations in Alberta produce free range eggs. Free run eggs are produced by hens allowed to roam freely in an enclosed facility (barn). Egg safety and quality can be more difficult to manage in these situations since hens and eggs can come in contact with droppings and dirt. The nutrient content of these eggs is no different than the nutrient content of eggs of hens raised in conventional cage operations.

Regardless of the types of eggs you buy - specialty or conventional, you want the eggs you and your family eat to be the safest possible. Remember to choose eggs that are clean and have no cracks, use them before the "Best Before" date on the carton, and, whenever possible, find out how they have been handled (ie. refrigeration) from the time they were laid.

"Eggbeaters" in the carton are real egg whites and they do not contain any yolks.

I see that a lot of people use feta cheese in their omlettes. What does feta taste like?

Eggwhites in a carton are kinda cheap. I like the egg beaters brand because they are somewhat "thicker", which make me feel fuller. The other egg white brands i've tried are "paper thin" which make me feel like i haven't eaten. The big carton of egg beaters, i think it's a quart, is like $4-$5.......not bad

There is a difference, especially with flax seed fed chickens. This greatly increases the Omega 3s, but if you are only eating the whites, I don't think it matters

If worried about high cholesterol. Take red yeast rice. My cholesterol was 270 hdl and has gone down 70 points since taking. 2 capsules one in morning and one in evening 600mg ea. Thomson's makes a very reasonable priced capsule. Also can keep triglycirides in check with ala. I heard natural egg white, even if you use one yolk is better than the egg beaters. Has something to do with the albumien or something. I don't eat wheat toast only rye as wheat products ferment in stomach and causes bloat in many.

The latest research shows that eggs(3 to 4per day) , yolks and all, don't increase colesteral by a significant amount. Also the protiens eggs contain is the best protien out there. This protien is more easily absorbed by the body than any other, also better used.

Yes, I agree eggs are good for you, but if you have over borderline high cholesterol one should obstain from products like eggyolks, dairy products, cheese etc. and find alternatives, even many types of whey protein powders contain high cholesterol. I know, because I have went to several internal MD's on this topic and all have said it is better to stay away from these products than to risk future plaque in arteries that may contribute to heart attack if you are over borderline high in cholesterol. I use rice milk or soy dairy products for shakes and also use whey protein that doesn't have cholesterol or low levels and I will only use one yolk to every 5 whites. Many of the retail store wheys have the high cholesterol. I have called many of these retail store whey companies and they would not comment to me about the cholesterol in their product. Of course they would not comment, as they know any form of cholesterol is not good for someone with borderline high. By borderline high, i mean anyone having over 200 hdl and high triglycirides. I guess if someone wants to risk future problems they could continue eating and drinking products with cholesterol, would you take that risk if you had a predisposition to high cholesterol or heart attack?

One can have an incredible amount of cholesterol intake, yet not be affected in a negative way. For one thing, if your body can adequately adjust your levels of LDL to match an increase in HDL, everything remains in check.

As for susceptibility to a heart attack, one should look to a completely different test, called the CRP (C-Reactive Protein). If the protein is present, it could indicate a problem. The point being if one has a great cholesterol reading, yet a bad CRP test, that person is much MORE likely to suffer from heart failure.

The whole cholesterol issue has been one of debate since its inception and there is plenty of anecdotal evidence that will both support or refute most of the thinking on this topic.

My thinking is that people blessed with amazing genes could probably eat whole eggs 'till the chickens come home with absolutely no repercussions.
