a guy was telling me at the gym today about parisites and how 1/3 of the USA population has some form of gastrointestinal parisite. he says he took a course of stuff he bought at the health food store to clean him out and he started gaining weight because the nutrients were getting to his muscles and not being robbed by the nasties in his belly. he told me he was taking massive quantities of fiber with some other stuff he couldnt remember. as much rare steak as i eat and sushi he said i no doubt had parisites and would benifit from flushing them out. does this sound in the least true? is there somthing from a health food store that could get rid of them if i had em. he said the only way to know for sure is to have a lab do a fecal exam. i dont feel like shiting in a bag and taking it to somebody to look at. he just spooked me a little i guess. whats your take fellas.

You need a healthy digestive tract in order to uptake nutrients.I did a colon cleanse a while back and it made a big difference,a lot of people probably don't know that they might be carrying at least 10 lbs of impacted waste material in their colon so I would recommend cleaning out your colon and keepig your digestive tract healthy especially if your goal is gaining some muscle.

It depends on what you call parasite. When your'e talking about intestinal worms and looking information up you will be told 1/3 of the populations of USA has it. But you would have some bad symptoms, like crawling track marks in your skin, coughing and iritation in your throught. As far as the bacteria or parasites you do have. Not many live in your stomach because the ph level is close to 2, it produces Hydrochloric Acid (HCl). But when it gets to your intestines you have bacteria there. There is a whole bunch more in your large intestines than in your small. But the bacteria there are good and help. When nutrition gets past the small intestine these bacteria in the large intestine basicly eat it and produce large amounts of B vitamins and vitamin K. Not only do they produce vitamins, the bacteria also eat up the protein that was not fully digested and absorbed and break it down into amino acids, and then break down the amino acids to other things.
I think it is good to eat fiber and all, but to constiantly try and clean yourself out. I would think that would do more harm than good.
