Not sure about this diet. I tried it for about 6 weeks and it was a total mind phuq. I ate exactly as it was outlined and as was predicted the tuesday into wednesday was the absolute worst. felt horrible. zero energy, didn't have energy or strength to train. the recommended cardio was slow walking on a treadmill which is the exact opposite of what i normally do. my blood sugar felt so goddam low i felt like i was going to slip into a diabetic coma. i never got into ketosis as the books predict you will. the keto strips said 0 ketones and i just felt too tired and awful to even move. on a work run to drop off samples to the lab i went thro Dunkin drive thru and got the Dunkin/Monster energy punch which is loaded with carbs and sugars and when i was done with that i felt at least mentally stable again and started eating low carb again ibstead of no carb. I recently friended former IFBB pro Mike Quinn and we were talking about how this diet was fucking me up and he said it's a horrible diet, very similar to the Dr DiPasquale diet the WBF had the athletes use for the awful last contest they did and he came put looking like doo doo. He said he recommends his clients do low carb when dieting but he has little faith in the keto diet. he told me you need at least 65 grams/day of carbs just to maintain normal brain function day to day. I also read a little later that people who do the keto diet can risk onset of adult type 2 diabetes. on my last batch of tests which i have never had any issues with blood sugar came out as a fasting glucose level of 150. that's insane. my body seems to have regulated out somewhat now and i feel normal again eating normal again. i was a zombie for a few months, work, attempt to train, go home, fall asleep. it sucked. don't think i'll try the keto thing again. had same report from a few people in my women's conditioning class i do at the dojo say the same, they got very sick, low blood sugar dizziness and such and had to go back to eating normal. anyone else have any input on if they had tried this and the results?

Re: anyone do the keto/Dave Palumbo? Body Opus diet?
that makes zero sense man. if you are low to no carbs unless their is something bad wrong with you your blood sugar should be spot on with super insulin sensitivity. that's what they do with people at the doc when they are creeping into pre diabetic conditions. i know that one for a fact because my old man was having terrible bad issues and doc put him on zero carbs for 45 days and his numbers and sensitivity were spot on. same goes for myself. if i can burn off the 50-100 i take in daily which i normally do my blood sugar is spot on and insulin sensitivity is nasty.
as for using this approach for getting into shape and along those lines, i and for me and only me think and feel it is garbage. jipped is huge on it and loves it. i on the other hand have tried the multiple ways of doing it with high pro lower fat, low pro higher fat med pro medium fat and none of it worked. no pump no energy and no strength. i did drop 45 in 30 days and was nice and peeled but that was probably one of the most miserable experiences of my life. something you are alos missing from old dave's setup is his drug and supp protocol. he is huge on pushing a large amount and i am pretty sure that's how he makes the magic happen. not for me, in the most perfect world and what i have seen that works for 99% of people is a proper carb cycle approach. you are only miserable for a brief amount of time and your body cannot and wont adapt to it because you are constantly tricking it. really the best approach is what you find that you can stick to consistently and stay in a def, with brief and i mean very brief periods of surplus.TGBSupplements REP

Re: anyone do the keto/Dave Palumbo? Body Opus diet?
i've never really had any blood sugar issues regarding labs but i know if i don't eat every 2to 2-1/2 hours i feel miserable. noticed it the first time when we were doing the family disney trips back in 2003-2011 that i'd be walking around and all of a sudden i'd be zero energy and shaky and miserable and had to eat right then to feel normal. but yeah, after over a week on it and no change on the keto strips i was like wtf? was eating protein and fats, coconut oil in the coffee instead of cream and sugar, breakfast was 6 whole eggs and 3 pieces of turkey bacon instead of 6 egg whites and a half cup of oats. 2nd meal was steak and 25 almonds. third meal was protein powder mixed with water, fourth meal was chicken and either almonds again or 2 tlspoons almond butter, 5 th meal was steak with tblspoon butter on it. last meal was protein powder and water. after over a week on that i thought for sure i'd be in ketosis but never happened. idk but it was misearble. the best shape i've been in was 2016 for cancun and i was doing higher protein, low carbs. i'd have my 1/2 cup of oats for meal 1 or 1/2 cup cheerios and then meal 2 was 1/2 cup brown rice and rest of day only carbs were fibrous carbs like veggies or salad and no carbs at all after 6pm and with the cardio i got pretty damn peeled and vascular. i kept my test between 750-900 and var and winny for orals and clen and t3 near the end of the cycle before the trip and this year between the keto attempts feeling miserable and the shoulder limiting training to a degree i'm not even close to that condition. think i'm going back to my meal plan from 2016 for next summer's cutter.

Re: anyone do the keto/Dave Palumbo? Body Opus diet?
if your blood sugar is dropping when you dont eat within those window and i am not a doc, that tells me you have something going on. i would lean more towards you being really badly insulin resistant. you need to reprime your system and get it function more optimal. i would go with lowering your sugar down to no more than 10g a day at most and zero if possible. that includes residual from veges and such, sugar is sugar i dont give two fucks what anyone says, just because it comes from fruit or vege doesnt matter it has the same effect on the pancreas. so do that and then only go with veges and super low gi carbs. i would keep them around training only. pre and post workout then just have pro and fat for the rest of your meals. i will be willing to bet you a paycheck that after 30 days or so you will function much better and your insulin sensitivity will be much more improved. that and you wont get all nasty shaky and sweaty if you dont have carbs every few hours. so in a nut shell your body isnt responding to carbs the way it should be. if you cant completely eliminate sugar, which you should be able to, then add in a glucose disposal agent and use that if you have to have sugar. still i would give it 30 days or so and see how you do. great for fat loss pumps etc...TGBSupplements REP
