  • Boiling eggs is an art....

    that I haven't mastered yet! It sucks. If you cook then too long then they are impossible to peel and if you don't cook them long enough, then well they are runny and messy.

    They make egg timers. Maybe you should invest in one.

      maybe everyone does this already but it was a big day for me when i switched from dropping the eggs in the boiling water to put them in the cold water and then turn on the burner and let the eggs heat up with the water. seem to make peeling them easier and had no 'escapees'

        Ladiesman,

        Take one out with a spoon and spin it on a table if it spins tight and does not move from where its spining its hard boiled.....if it wables its not hardboiled....that how I check em....and it takes about 8-10min to hard boil those discusting things

          yah 8-10 mins is fine. i made like 30 last night and got a bowl of em in my frig now =D

            After ten minutes of a rolling boil drain and the're ready. Foolproof ! Remember the're still cookin on the inside so ya might wanna dunk'em in cold water. Usually not needed though.
            Leaders did what others weren't willing to do, now they enjoy the things that others do not.

              Hard Boiled Eggs 101 -
              For perfectly boiled eggs:
              1. Place eggs in large pot.
              2. Cover with cold water.
              3. Place on burner and bring to a roiling boil.
              4. When water is reaches a roiling boil turn the stove off and set a timer to 10 minutes (12 at higher altitutdes).
              5. While waiting for the timer fill the kitchen half of sink with ice (this assumes that you have a split kitchen sink).
              6. When timer goes off, pour hot water down other half of sink and transfer eggs into ice bath (this is what make them easy to peel).
              Voila - perfect hard boiled eggs every time.

                Yes, cold water immediatly after taking off burner will make them easy too peel. Also, when you peel them start by rolling them on a hard surface just enough to make the shell crack all over.

                  From the hard boiled egg...is it best to eat the whole egg? B/c I heard that the yellow part isn't good for you.

                        One large egg yolk contains 4.5 grams of fat (mostly good fat), so that's not really the problem. The real problem with egg yolks (the yellow part) is that just one contains over half of the recommended daily dose of cholesterol. This is also a double edged sword though. Cholesterol is a precursor to all of the hormones that your body manufactures, including the big T. So, you need it two. As I a general rule 1-2 yolks a day is okay - even good for you - anymore and you might be putting yourself at risk for high cholesterol.
