So I’ve used Keto here and there in the past but it’s been a long time. I’ve always had a problem being shaky and feeling carb deprived.

That being said, just ordered a book from some “old gurus” not some fad young buck trying to make a buck...I wanted actual science on how to do this. If I choose to try it again.

    Any opinions?

    Re: Keto

jipped is very well versed in the process man. the trick is getting your protein and fat needs where they need to be. for me every approach didnt work. low pro high fat med pro high fat high pro high fat. it didnt matter what i did, my body just didnt respond positively at all. i was able to drop 45lbs in 30 days on my first try with it but i was passing out after cardio. so it was not cool for me at all

This is what I’ve done in the past and the weakness sucked. It’s been a few years. Think I will read a book and see how I feel lol!

        Re: Keto

I have done Adkins in the distant past. I was able to drop some fat quick. The trick was not to have carbs in the house. Now if I were to try that binging would take over at night.

It’s called “the Keto Cure” by Adam S. Nally. I got it on amazon. He’s actual local to me here in AZ, I had no idea until I read up on him.

              Re: Keto

Getting the brain to switch from carbs to fat as energy is the hardest part for most people IMO. Problem I have seen with a lot of people is the rebound effect once they stop or fall of the plan. Its like a Bodybuilder binge eating after contest prep. Keep in mind I follow a very very low carb meal plan (most of the time 40-70 carbs a day max) but still plan re feed days with high carbs, fats and sugers when needed.

This is only my opinion but anybody at any age using any form of resistance training should take carbs post working.

So the big thing my brother is to set aside one's "need" for tons of protein.

YOU MUST get minimum of 70% of your diet from fats. the rest preferably protein. Most guys say "I did it right but I felt like shit for weeks" but their ratio was closer to 50/50. This will not work. You never get into ketosis and your body uses gluconeogenesis to turn protein into carbohydrate.

You have to force your body to burn fats.

2nd most people do not get enough minerals while on. You will shed water like crazy. take 250mg of magnesium citrate 2-3 times daily and eat a little extra salt and even add a mineral supp. This is a big one, many people never get right as their electrolytes are off.

3rd use MCT oil and even ketone salts. I can get into ketosis now with very little "keto flu" adding these supps with the minerals listed above.

4th some folk just do not do well with ketosis (although many of these people just never get into it due an improper fat/protein ratio) One in ketosis one can get more carbs without knocking yourself out. It is getting there that is hard. 70% of calories from fat is tough. But 99% of folk that do it right get stellar results.
"SHIAT BIOTCH, thats a big ass!"

A clear concience is a sign of a bad memory.

                    Re: Keto

Brother I started keto on the 2nd of this month. The wife and I do it every year to knock off the lbs we put on over xmas. I bought a new brand of ketone salt with MCT in it. It has helped me slide into ketosis with 1/2 as much discomfort as doing it without.

Sports research keto +plus It seems to work really well. My wife is a very fast responder to keto and she can show ketones on a stick in 4 days. I take a week but with this stuff I show in 4 days like her. (granted i am taking exogenous ketones)

Getting in is the hard part. Once there you will feel way better. Most people eat too much protein. That is the big thing. Got to cut back the protein while getting in then modulate once in ketosis. You can use your ketone meter or sticks (meter far more accurate but sticks are most convenient) Start with 75% fat and as close to 25% protein you can get to start with zero carbs. use Ketone salts and MCT (The stuff i mentioned has both) and then when you are nicely in ketosis you can bump protein until you see the purple fade on your ketone sticks. then you know your threshold.

                    Best of luck brother.
