      • Won't have official results posted till Monday. I was top 10 for sure; however I was called out 10th so that may be my placement. It was a hell of a learning experience. Posing is what killed me. I got a critique by a judge. My body was fine, I was just too stiff and low on the pose portion of display. I was a little afraid of that going in.

Gonna work on that and work out some kinks in the prep plan and try another in August with my wife's permission of course. They had fun, but this trip and the kids and the dogs wore her out.

So basically I'm gonna use this as a learning experience and definitely a win for me just getting to that stage. This was a national qualifier and a tight class. Judging is odd to say the least. But we're gonna have to deal with it. I think in August I'll be able to compete in MP open an masters, spread out my exposure.

Thanks everyone for your help, motivation, and encouragement. I really couldn't have done it without you. You helped me fulfill a lifetime dream. Words just can't express my gratitude.

Time to sleep. I've only had about 5 hours total the lat two days. I'll put up pics as soon as I have some.

The spray tan kept her week away from me LOL.

She likes the look. We're gonna keep it.

Outstanding Shawn, first show under your belt. Take a little time to sit back, contemplate and most importantly to relax and show the wife and kids how much you love them. You didn't do this alone as you know, your family did it all with you.

Proud of you my friend, August here we come!!!

                  • WOW. I fell off the face of the earth for a while. Playing catchup at work and recuperating from the show has taken a few days.

I am headed to the Europa in Dallas August 17/18. We are devising a new plan as there were several things I didn't like about the way I came in. Pics are up on jmmanion.com under regional events and Adela Garcia classic. I'm on the last page of men's physique class b. don't think I can re post them with the watermark.

First off I was flatter than the top 5. All o them were full and slightly less dry except one who also competed in bb. He was pealed. Ripped was not the problem, but the water didn't come of the lower abdomen as I wanted and it very well may still be fat.

So - plan is to really work mid section and pound cardio while working carbs back into my diet. Also I'm gonna try like hell to get some width on me fast. My back is lagging badly. If anyone has suggestions I'm all ears. As I've filled back out a bit my lats came back, but they still need work.

I want the abs popping all the time, not just the last week or so and only when flexed. They need depth and I know a lot of that comes with muscle maturity. The rest of me I'm pretty satisfied with.

We had a conservative approach to drying out, and in my opinion I peaked too late. About 3 hours after pre judging. It was an early event and I didn't end up using any diuretic. So I dried out only on salt restriction and water cutoff. No carb load either. I had to go with coach since he's watched my body respond all along. We were close. After prejudging I had a burger, fries and coke and an hour later was shredded to hell. So the carbs and salt my body likes.

My posing is gonna have to take front seat. I've have to take it much more seriously. That is where I lost the judges. Lack of confidence and stiff. In my defense, people were yelling all sorts of crap and I didn't know if they were yelling at me or other contestants. It was nerve racking. I've got a better handle on that now, just need to have my stuff down pat so none of that affects me.

I'll start a new thread for the new show. Thanks again for everyones positive comments and advice and encouragement. You are family to me.

Shawn, it was show number one for you. This sport is about constant learning, even top tier guys sometimes miss the mark. Do not beat yourself up, take pride and joy in what you did and prep for August now. You and Jake are a great team, learn from what happened and keep moving forward.

Guess it is time to say again, head down, volume up, kicking ass!!!!

Yessir!! I'm not beating myself up. I've got a lot to learn about how my body reacts. But being this lean also gives me the chance to be picky too. I went head to head with some top tier guys and quite frankly, the judging was all over the place. but fullness was the common denominator. I feel like the t3 kept me from filling out any. I'm not switching horses on coach. We've just got to dial it in better and maybe open up to some other options for me to get the look we need. There were some things that didn't get discovered till the last week that were crucial. We both learned.

This was the longest prep ever I think. 22 weeks total. 16 with jake. My body fluctuated a lot. This time it's laser focus 7 weeks.
