A friend of mine just texted me freaking out. It seems during his Sunday morning injection he broke off a pin, at the tip and it's dissapeareed into his ass. He's in minor pain but wanted to know what to do. I told him he has to go to hospital and they'll probably take x-rays and dig it out. Has this ever happened to anyone here? Or does anyone know of anyone's it's happened to? Just want to tell him what to expect. Also, what causes this, him not going in and out at a straight angle or a faulty pin (was BP brand from pharmacy)?

When i first read this post i LOL'd pretty good. Ok so the pin broke in half and part of it is still in his cheek? I dont think he'll be able to get this out by himself although im the type of person who would try. He'll need to an urgent care or a hospital and pray he has insurance. What kind of needle was he using? i only use termo and BD. -

He must of had some cheap ass Pinz and to actually break it off he must of had a bad angle while he was pushing the pin in.But yeah the ER will have to get it outDisclaimer: Steroid use is illegal in a vast number of countries around the world. You have 3 options. Emergency room, try to cut it out yourself or wait for it become inflamed and squeeze it out like a zit. If you are in extreme pain, emergency room. If not, my buddy broke off a 25 gauge needle and a doctor friend of mine told him to wait a couple days. He did and the inflammation built up and he squeezed it out..........
Always when pinning (and sometimes I dont do this) put it in 90%. That way if it breaks off, you can get a tool and pull it out. I wish you the best, hope you get this out soon.Comment

There is a good likelihood that the doctor won't do anything. Going in to dig out a small head of a needle will increase chance of infection. I'm not saying don't go to the doctor and I'm not saying they won't do anything. But soldiers live their entire lives with pieces of shrapnel in their bodies. The body will encApsulat stud foreign object and get rid of it in due time in its own.Comment

omg I am so sorry but I can't stop laughing.. i know its probably not a laughing matter but I can't get that image out of my head lol.. Its hospital time.. you don't know where that pin can travel too and rupture something.Comment

It as a 22 gauage BP 1 1/2" pin and he got it straight from pharmacy. He buried that shit so 1 1/2"'s of steel is imbedded in his ass , buried, he can't see it, not even sure exactly where it's at. And to make matters worse he had his daughter this weekend and has to drive her home an hour and a half both ways, while sitting down in car whole time. Sounds like he has a rough day ahead of him! LOL Any ideas how this could have happened? Faulty needle or did he just not go in and out straight? This has really NEVER happened to anyone here or that they know of?Comment
