  • Torn Pec Recovery?

How long did this injury take for you to get back into the gym?

My story comes from a flat BB bench session. I know I know, that is the devil and notorious for injuries. Of course I told myself, "it won't happen to me though..." Well it did. Luckily it happened on the initial descent of the weight, and I felt pops in both my right and left peck right at the beginning of the arm pit (top front), or where the pectoralis ties into your arm pit. Been stretching it slowly for over a month now, and recently noticed what appears to be slight bruising still. Or maybe it's just my stretch marks from the tren blowing me up turning purple, from not seeing any kind of action in over a month lol damn it. But if there was any good in this, it happened in a time where I was about to neglect the gym for a while any way due to a very busy schedule with life coming.

Now that everything is almost settled, I would like to work my way back into the gym, but don't want to walk in there and walk back out because I still can't push. Speaking of push, I've been gauging it of push ups at home. Still feel it there in both sides. Yesterday I reconed some good ol' ghrp and ghrh since my family and I are for the most part done with the craziness.

Thanks for your time, look forward to seeing what you have to say...

          Re: Torn Pec Recovery?

you didnt happen to get an mri to see if it was muscle or the tendon did you? that will dictate roughly how long it will take. i tore a hammie a long time ago but i blew out the middle muscle and both tendons. i couldnt do hardly anything on it for almost 2 years. go back at it easy man

            Re: Torn Pec Recovery?

I did not brother. The weight probably moved about 3 inches when the popping started. Luckily I was able to rack the weight. I should really should get in and get a professional to look at it. Thanks brother...

                    Re: Torn Pec Recovery?

my buddy just had his pec tear and had surgery and used TB-500, GH and HRT test and healed very quickly. the dr was amazed at his recovery. he was out of the gym for 6 weeks and is getting back in there slowly now.

however in your case, i would have it looked at. if it's a partial tear may get worse, i don't think it will heal correctly if tore.

                          Re: Torn Pec Recovery?

Oh man, that sucks. Sorry to hear about your pec. You say its been a month? And there is only slight bruising and no change in the shape of the muscle? You are able to do pushups, but there is some pain? Sounds to me like you can heal this up if you take care of it. If you can be patient and only do exercises that dont aggravate it. MRI wouldnt be a bad idea so you know exactly what got torn.

Ive told this story before on here so I will keep it short, but I tore my supraspinatous tendon in my rotator cuff benchin a few years back. I only had about 5 degrees of abduction in my shoulder. I couldnt move my arm beyond that without excruciating pain. Orthopedic surgeon looked at my MRI and said "Oh man, this is bad. You need to schedule surgery asap" No shit. I didnt have the surgery and am now about 95% healed,I have no pain and full range of motion. I only feel it on certain exercises. I can do full range dips and that doc told me I would never again be able to do dips. He also told me there was no way my shoulder would ever heal without surgery. He is a top surgeon in the state and does the NFL. That doesnt mean he is always right.

There was enough tendon fibers left to regenerate and repair. Thank goodness it wasnt a complete rupture. It took about 8 months and I continued to train but I literally avoided all pushing for about six months.I didnt lose any muscle mass because it didnt hurt to deadlift and pullup. Anyway, hope that helps. You can heal up from this, no doubt about it. Good luck

                            Re: Torn Pec Recovery?

Thanks again guys. Yes Dzone, no noticeable mutation in muscle appearance. When I got back into the gym after push ups felt comfortable I jumped on the incline with no weight on the bar. It honestly felt great to just let the bar sit on the bottom part of the movement and let everything stretch out. For some reason the incline was hitting every part of my chest that I felt the popping from benching. After that it almost felt like a "release" in those areas, and things started to turn for the better each time I stepped into the gym.

I know that keeping what Anaolic5150 said about leaving your ego at the door will help me avoid future injuries due to ignorance and being a male lol.

Go to the doctor, you need to find out what exactly happened. Until you do, no clue about what is recommended.
