Re: Water dispensers in schools: do they lower obesity in students?
Adding water dispensers in schools is definitely a benefit for kids, but I honestly think ending childhood obesity starts in the home. My gf is a teacher and always talks about what she sees the kids eating. Chips, sodas, candy, candy bars, etc... She says kids will pull out a full size bag of chips with a large soda and that's their lunch sometimes. It's like these poor kids don't have a chance and aren't taught anything about nutrition. Combine that type of diet with a sedentary lifestyle playing video games at home the rest of the day and you have a recipe for disaster. I know not all kids are that way, but it seems like a growing percentage.
