one thing i have found about these super simplified studies is they lack context. They simply say critically "ill patients in intensive care" but do not provide what kind of illness. also they do not say how much probiotic was given.

so I will still say that in some cases of some critically ill people it can benefit them

I think probiotics, and fermented foods, are great for most people. You are right, what kind of illnesses did these patients have? I personally have taken probiotics, and eaten fermented foods for years, with many benefits. Now I am one who cannot take or eat either. They trigger terrible joint and body pain in me, at the current time. i do have several autoimmune things going on though, with no real answers, but I know I can't do them at all. I still believe them to be beneficial for most though. Every now and then I try my daughters probiotic which is on the lower end of containing probiotics. I can usually tolerate them for awhile
