I could give a flying fig about my weights...it's about form form and more form...robotic perfection is the goal to avoid injury.

I was at a gym the other day and getting a lot of looks like normal but seeing shock in people's face as I'm front lateral raising 20lbs with perfection, veins popping and shear intensity. Them watching a 120lb punk curl "tossing" (lol) 50lb dumbbells and him asking me why he can't get a bicep pump....

Zoot I'm with you 100%. As we age we give up things for me with putting weigh on comes injuries and I just dislike that!

I'm a huge fan of what 6p6 has stated ^^^ (I'm also the same age). Also body building or lifting does not define who you are... you define it. We do these things so that we can look better, live longer, love our wives and girl friends longer. And I'll tell you what, the main reason I go to the gym 5 days a week is for what it does to my brain chemistry and how it makes me think (more positively). And I hope this does not sound to sappy... this is me speaking my truth... we only have a short time on this earth guys, I strive to do whatever I can to be the best family member I can, the best friend I can who knows how to listen to others, and myself. To be honest, hard working and kind. I found the most important things in life are my health and the relationships that I have with others, everything else just really does not matter at the end of the day.
this my friends made me think alot, thanks for the thread zoot, your a good man.

i hear ya bro. i love when people look at me like he's kidding right, when i'm using real light weight with perfect form! i try and tell em it's all about intensity and they just look at me like i'm crazy lol. funny story because i was doing shoulders today too with the same shocked looks. granted i do have my heavy weeks but some people just don't get it!! i'm 34 but like diver said i'm going more for a look now instead of a particular weight

i am 43, about 6 years ago i stopped power lifting and BB to train martial arts. i am so happy. i feel free. i dont have to have so many grams of protein every 2-3 hours. i can play basketball with my teen son and his friends and have them gas out before me (their dads dont make it 10 minutes)

muscles are great. maintaining them is a second job.

I am 40 and I started training 20yrs ago. I had periods of time that I was busy with life and took off the iron but always came back. Now my wife and oldest daughter have become involved with it also. Im sure the other kids will in a few years when they are old enough.
I do not heal like I used to but I am alot smarter now. I think your weight depends on your genetics and natural structure. My last meet I bulked to 343. Right now I am about 310 and feel alot better. Im not sweating 24/7. Right now is the first time in my life I haver ever seen my abs at all. It is the leanest I have ever been which is a great feeling.
