TweetI used to love watching Pat Smith! That guy was an animal!
TweetEXACTLY! Couldn't have said it better myself. I can honestly say I remember watching the very 1st UFC (back in like 1990 or so?). And almost every UFC since then. Shamrock of course was there, Gracie, and some fierce ass black dude named Patrick Smith (wonder what happened to him). But back in those days, Gracie was so unstoppable because he would wrap you up on the ground for 10 minutes and submit you. But then they started stopping action and standing people up. then, everyone learned Jiu Jitsu. Now, the older guys don't stand a chance. the only guy who's lasted this long is Shamrock, because brawling and submission never goes out of style. But times have changed.

TweetFor anyone interested, here's the first UFC ever. After you read it, type in "UFC 2", UFC 3", etc.... and you can see the whole evolution of UFC.
Pretty cool how back then there was no weight classes. So a 400lb dude would fight a 180lb

Tweettank is too out of shape, but one good puch landed will drop anyone
TweetI remember watching it when it first started. You'd have a 300lb sumo against a 200lb Goji Ryu karate practicer and they would just go at it...remember the guy knocking the sumo guy out but broke his hand in the process...it was a t'ment and they had to keep going if they won
WAR EAGLE!
TweetI DO!!! I remember that well. The big balck sumo guy was Emmanuel Yarborough. I forget who the white dude who KO'd him was. He actually didn't KO him. He just teed off with about 40 punches to Manny's face until John McCarthy stepped in. Yes, he broke his hand in the process and couldn't move on to the next round.
